And Melo only needs a 10-15 mpg backup anyway and Fields can easily play that role.

Sergio, if we could just trade Gallo and Curry for Melo right now, I don't think anyone on the forum would argue against it. Nobody has said Gallo is so good he's untouchable. But you have advocated trading any and everything to get Melo.

Hell, I'd give up Gallo + crap for Melo, too. It would be an ideal trade since Gallo would be redundant at the 3 and too good to be a bench player. I don't think Denver is too interested in that trade. Maybe in February.

Huh? There's a number of people here who think Gallo is untouchable.

We even had one goof say he would only trade Danilo Gallinari for Kevin Durant. Meaning he wouldn't trade him for Kobe, LeCon, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard, Brandon Roy and so on. LOL

Gallo isn't even a top 75 player. I mean, the worst team in the league last season (New Jersey) has 3 clear cut better players than Gallo. Yet some here say he's untouchable. LMAO

We haven't even seen Gallo play thru 2 full seasons and he's already a finished product? I think people would've been premature if they gave up on Lee that early. Gallo is a very good prospect and we need to be patient with his development. In trading him in a package for Melo you have to acknowledge that Gallo is a superior shooter from distance and Melo is a superior scorer, but he does his damage from the midrange in. You want to keep Gallo along with Melo to have a spread floor. If we really want Melo tho, Gallo may be sacrificed and we better hope he has a great year so that Denver would see Gallo as a good pick up in a trade for Melo.

Even Devin is questionable. I think he shot 40% from the field last season and he isn't very good from behind the arc.

I think he looks very good out there. He reminds of Shane Battier. Maybe doesnt do anything amazing statistically but the dude knows how to play.

Harangody was proving that in the game last night. He plays like some kind of devious Dr. Isiah Thomas combination of David Lee and Channing Frye. Rebounds, like crazy, shoots from the outside, can't play a lick of defense.

He looked bulkier than Lee and he's a rook DLee is a good place to start from at least
but he isn't finishing with either hand off the dribble face up either. Get real

Fields reminds me a bit of Matt Barnes. He knows how to play and will produce if given minutes. I worry about Randolph losing minutes but Turiaf should be the guy to sit before Randolph.

My issue with getting a player like Carmelo is that he will take up max cap space and he doesn't bring you over the hump compared with what we have. I'd much rather spend the cap space on a player like CP3/Deron or a quality big man, rather than getting a volume scorer. Volume scorers are overcompensated. See Joe Johnson, Jamal Crawford, Allen Iverson, etc. They don't bring teams more wins. Ball distributors and big bangers/rebounders/shot blockers are what this team needs more.

Rose is not the answer.

You make great points and I agree with everything that you posted. However, if you commit to a coach that won't play young players or mentor them then you have to acquire established stars that don't need a coach to teach, game plan or mentor them. I think that is the position that the Knicks are in now. I am afraid that Randolph is already in D'Antoni's dog house because he needs coaching and mentoring.

Fields will take over Wilson's role sooner or later... Wilson's gonna be traded, i think it's just a matter of time.

I think the team will try to trade Chandler. He's a free agent after this season, so it will have to be done by the trade deadline if the team doesn't want to keep him.

I agree ..... He was pulled out of game against Minny after lighting it up!!

I thought we had trade in play then....... Like we were trying to keep his value
as high as possible.

I see him traded by mid - season.

Exactly.

He's a better version of Wilson for less money.

He's a more efficient scorer, better rebounder, and much smarter player. He'll probably have a better 3 point shot before you know it too.

Wilson has some value because he's a versatile two way player, but he's somewhat redundant on this team and I can't see them shelling out much more money to keep him next year with Fields in the picture.

I like Fields to but I don't think he holds a candle to Chandler. Chandler averaged 15 and 5 last year with almost a block a game and he is only 23. Fields has been a terrific surprise but he isn't where Chandler is as a player in my opinion. Hopefully Fields makes the rotation.

I don't like all this Mayor hattin! Why is it HIM that HAS to be traded? I think he could be a starter on a real winning team and he's not a needy player. I like the Mayor still. Landry Fields is cool too but I don't like this NY shove a guy out with no reason vibe. Let it develop.
If you are still following the team and reading sites like this, there is nothing, short of your own demise, that is going to throw you off this train.

I am more or less projecting here. I think he'll be equal to Chandler and on his way to being better by the end of the season. He has more skills and a higher basketball IQ. He just has to put it all together.

At least someone on the Knicks cared enough to rebound the ball. Fields got 7 boards in 20 minutes last night.

Yeah, I noticed that he led the team no less. I think he will get the start tonight. If he can continue to rebound we really need to play him. We suck bad at rebounding. Even Mosgov isn't getting it done.

right now i agree w/u Wilson is the better player... it's more a question of the cap than anything else... with another year under his belt i think it's reasonable to think Fields will give u comparable production on a rookie scale salary... the Knicks will use the freed up money to target other guys in free agency or free up dollars for a future trade... i like Wilson, always have, but i think his days in NY are numbered
