I ust read the article by Alan Hahn, on the homepage, and he said people within' the Bobcats organization declared that Felton always came to training camp out of shape and he usually works his way up throughout the preseason. Unfortunately, that may work in your early 20s, but as you get older, that stuff just doesn't fly with your body. That's the type of stuff that leads to nagging injuries which cause missed games throughout the season. Just ask Eddie Curry about that. Felton has to stop that shizat man.
Agreed- I honestly don't understand his mentality - you've just been given a new extremely high paid, very high profile job, in which your performance is pivotal for success- why, oh why wouldn't you go into that job well prepared?! Why would you just turn up on the day and hope you could figure stuff out as you went along?!
A steady thread through these posts was the topic of motivation. Felton just signed a nice contract. Perhaps he was enjoying the fruits. He was handed the job as soon as he signed (and likely as a condition of the contract?)
My take. For incentive to both players it would have been "Felton has great respect in this league and knows what it takes to win. At the same time Toney Douglas has been working his arse off and deserves a shot to compete for the starting spot so we will go to training camp and see if he can beat Felton out."
This gives both players a reason to get in early and work hard.
At the same time he's a 6? year vet and knows what he needs to do to get ready. He is playing better, it's a long season and I'm sure mid-season he will be playing at a whole different level. Expect the whole team will ....but then it will be about the time they really click that Denver starts to feel the pressure if Melo hasn't moved.
Bill Simmons on Tyreke Evans
"The prototypical 0-guard: Someone who handles the ball all the time, looks for his own shot, gets to the rim at will and operates best if his teammates spread the floor to watch him."
