Melo should not even be a topic really......

Sf on our team scored 57 points total today..... Great D and plenty of rebounds.

How does trading for Melo improve us? Gallo AR and Chandler are good enough to keep
and combined make half what Melo makes

KNICKS on the way UP!!!

The problem is all 3 will be up for an extension within the next 2 years, so if we want to make use of their low salary, we have to make a FA splash this summer. Summer of 2012, Gallo and AR will have crippling cap holds.

I don't think 5 is our biggest weakness either. We're certainly not the Lakers or Boston, but a rotation of Turiaf, Mozgov, and Randolph/Amare at the C spot is still superior to most of the league.

Guard play is where we're hurting. I mean just look at the 27 turnovers, majority of them from players who were overdribbling when they shouldn't have been. I recall BRIGGS espousing the idea of having Randolph run point-forward, but after this game (yeah, just one preseason game, but still), I don't see it all. He doesn't have the IQ or the court vision to run point, even if he has the ball-handling skills.

Really wish Chris Paul was available in 2011. Cause if we could add a player of his caliber to this squad, we'd be elite imo.

The TO's is something we'll have to keep an eye on as the pre-season moves along. We have one true ball handler and it shows when we throw the ball all over the place. Still Armani is a good team and they had the advantage of playing together for years over us. We just threw this team together and they need time to get used to set rotations and habits. This is just the beginning of the process. The team we see now is nothing compared to how good they'll be come playoff time. I'm excited about that.

Look Melo is a major talent! I just don't want to weaken the balance of the roster in order to basically just add scoring. Since when was scoring our biggest problem? The guys we have now will in time form a good defensive unit. They need more time together, but you can see that it's not easy to score against our length inside. When Timo is in there it really get's hard to score inside. I've been saying that the defensive side of the ball is gonna be the biggest difference and why this will be a playoff team. I can't wait to see them develop more defensive chemistry. With Felton and TD ball hawking and our shot blockers everywhere else... WHEW! This could be a lot of fun.
