How does trading for Melo improve us? Gallo AR and Chandler are good enough to keep
and combined make half what Melo makes
The problem is all 3 will be up for an extension within the next 2 years, so if we want to make use of their low salary, we have to make a FA splash this summer. Summer of 2012, Gallo and AR will have crippling cap holds.
I don't think 5 is our biggest weakness either. We're certainly not the Lakers or Boston, but a rotation of Turiaf, Mozgov, and Randolph/Amare at the C spot is still superior to most of the league.
Guard play is where we're hurting. I mean just look at the 27 turnovers, majority of them from players who were overdribbling when they shouldn't have been. I recall BRIGGS espousing the idea of having Randolph run point-forward, but after this game (yeah, just one preseason game, but still), I don't see it all. He doesn't have the IQ or the court vision to run point, even if he has the ball-handling skills.
Really wish Chris Paul was available in 2011. Cause if we could add a player of his caliber to this squad, we'd be elite imo.
