Orlando? Where did you get a whiff of that?

It's on realgm.

Also - Seriously - I'd rather either give them curry and chan + future first now. why trade gallo before his prime? why give up anything you dont have to if you can sign him outright next year?

the knicks arent winning the championship this season (even with melo and minus gallo), have sold out the stadium for this year, so why give up gallo if you can get melo next year?!

IF you can get him now, you have too. There is no guarantee you will get him when he is a free agent. I think everyone needs to learn that lesson from this summers 3 amigo stunt.

Carmelo would be great here. My issue is I don't want to give up Gallo or Randolph to get him. If Carmelo wants to be here he can come next summer as a free agent.

Everything except AR was on the table before the trade WITH cap space. Now it's only the players/salaries. Also, ESPN says the Knicks only have $1.6 million remaining in cap space, where would they get $3 million? Obviously ESPN can be wrong, but if they aren't...

letting D Lee walk w/o getting anything in return would have been completely irresponsible & short sighted on Donnie's part... there are no guarantees that DEN would even consider trading Melo to NY much less take a package of a trade exception & Wilson/Gallo for him... Donnie did the right thing in getting back assets for D Lee rather than letting him walk for nothing in return... we are still in a good position to trade for Melo if that is the direction this franchise decides to go in... & in the meantime we have gained a very nice asset in AR along w/some very usable role players w/tradeable contracts in Turiaf & Azabuike, all of whom can help the team this year whether we trade for Melo or not.

Look folks... Chandler and Gallo have been the keys to this team from a "creating offense" standpoint around here and you've seen the success we've had.

With Felton and Stoudemire in the fold, Chandler will be able to score more easily and Gallo is really not going to be much except a guy who can stretch the defense when he's on.

Melo might not be on the level of Gallo in terms of shooting from deep, but I can guarantee you that defenders will be on him like gum on your shoe even on the perimeter, leaving Stoudemire and Felton plenty of room to operate.

If we can get Melo for Gallo right now, you just have to pull the trigger on that. There's no question.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

personally i'd rather we pass on Melo if it means having to give up all 3 of Gallo, AR & Wilson in the process, but if we could at least keep 1 of Gallo or AR, i'd have a hard time saying no... Melo is a superstar talent, there's no question about it... even though i don't particularly care for his style of game, he would make this team better, there's no doubt in my mind... other than CP3 there really isn't a better option for this team to target right now.

If the deal is Gallo, Chandler, Curry, and a future pick, which it seems like it will be, you would have to make that deal. Melo is a top 10 player, might be a better fit than LeBron, and is healthier than Paul. This is a deal we have to make now if it is available. No one will be happy having to trade Gallo but it probably has to be done for a top 10 player in his prime. This lineup is a deep playoff team.

C Randolph/Turiaf/Mozgov
PF Stouedmire
SF Anthony/Fields/Walker
SG Azibuike/Mason
PG Felton/Douglas

The year can be spent analyzing the 2 back court positions and determining if we want to upgrade from Felton to Parker and who is the best fit for SG. There will be good shooting guards available in the offseason as well. Our frontcourt could use more depth but is set for the future, and is one of the best in the league.

I hear you and respect what you're saying, but also respectfully disagree. Doing a sign and trade for Lee was far from mandatory. I'm glad a lot of folks like the potential of the players the Knicks acquired in the deal, but until or unless they contribute to a winning team and fulfill some of said potential they weren't have to have players. But I will say if that promise of potential makes them good trade pieces to land Melo, then great.

Yeah that was my thought earlier. Melo can get a whiff of a championship pairing with Dwight and Carter and his expiring contract can go to Denver and put up respectable numbers. Curry can sit on the bench and do jack...who would you rather have on the team if you were running the Nuggets?
