Great deal for the Pacers, amazingly stupid move for the Hornets- they should have kept Collinson as insurance in case they lose CP- or at least got a much better player than Ariza. Good move for Rockets too. I don't understand the trade at all from the Nets perspective- wouldn't of minded Murphy as a one season back up on our team though (only for his shooting and rebounding- I'd only of offered Curry)- don't see how he fits into the Nets plans.

I don't know- there must be more to this trade, surely- it doesn't make that much sense as it stands.

I think we did over estimate Collinsons value a bit. It looks like he will be starting for Indy as they are actively trying to get rid of T.j. Ford

That or people really underestimated how toxic Okafor's contract is to every team.

tj ford is one wrong neck twist away from his career being over. additionally, he has had attitutde problems both in toronto and in indy. why waste your money on a what/if like this?

well i don't want him starting, that's for sure.

you think even as a 15-20mpg backup it would be a poor investment? i think at this point in his career he must realize his only role for a team will be a backup player due to his injury history.

even for all of his PG deficiencies, I would still take TD at 10-12MPG at PG after Felton. Give him some time to grow and he plays D.

The Hornets, Rockets, Pacers and Nets are on the verge of a four-team trade, according to a report from Chad Ford.

Darren Collison and James Posey would be sent to Indiana, Trevor Ariza would go to New Orleans, Courtney Lee would go to Houston, while New Jersey would receive Troy Murphy.

The deal is in the advanced stages, according to sources.

Collison & Posey for Trevor Ariza? that's horrible! we couldn't have made a better offer for Collison than that? that's a joke.

The question is were we willing to take Posey and send Chandler to New Orleans? Probably not.

of course not, that's cuz we're still in a damn holding pattern until Melo decides where he wants to go... we're passing up on a great young PG talent like Collison because we're too scared to take on any more longterm salary, which to me is ridiculous.

Great idea nyk--I would be on that very quick. This is why we should have been patient with RGMJR--we dont have as much cap space as we could've to seal a deal with ford(but hopefully we can do it anyway--please ny mangement dont be stupid!!!!. If we get ford I would make Douglas expendable in a deal with Sacramento for a big.

This is a great deal for the Pacers, they have one of the nicest young core groups in the league. This is a move of desperation for New Orleans. Ariza fits with Paul but is vastly overrated. This deal does nothing to put the Hornets in any different position than they were already in, it just adds a bad salary to a financially struggling team.

no thanks. I like defense, tenacity in TD. 2 way player and he can grow with team.

Tj ford is a pro PG. If we dont use Douglas to trade for a big--that is one thing. Having a true capable pro PG to back adn sometimes play along side Felton in3 guard sets is important. TD has NOT proven in ANY WAY that he is an NBA PG. If Felton goes down TJ can run the team. If I could get Jason Thompson in a package deal hat included TD its a no brainer if I bring in TJ

Valid points Briggs but can we really say TD is fully developed young player? I believe he still got some improvements granted not as high as other younger players in the team but he seems to have right attitude much like Lee improved yearly and after all this is year 2 for him.

If I can get J Thompson for a package that included TD if we were able to pick up TJ--its a no brainer. That would give us a very high quality 3 player rotation in the frontcourt Thompson Amare Randolph

and the backcourt would be Felton TJ Ford Wil C Azubike--much more certain of a unit and the enhancement that I think we need in the back 3-4 of 9-10.

i think he'd be a great backup for us. i like TD as a player, but i don't think he's ever going to be the pure pg that tj ford is. i'm not trying to rag on TD, but i just think if we get the chance to get a guy like tj ford - who if not for injuries - would be a starting pg somewhere in this league that we should hop on it. that might be the best pg combo in the nba when healthy. we could seriously wear other teams down by having maybe the fastest pg tandem in the nba history.

I agree. Trevor Ariza is a career role player.

Ariza is a starter on any team and is a good pick up for the Hornets. I like this trade for all of the teams involved. I am really glad that the Knicks didn't trade Chandler for Ariza because I don't see a big difference between the players and Chandler is younger and has a better contract.

I love this trade for the Nets. Murphy is a beast on the boards. The Nets have a nice front line with Murphy, Lopez, Favors. The east is loaded with power forwards and the Nets needed an established guy. I think moving Lee will let Terrence Williams fill in at the 1 and 2. I think Williams will be a great player. If Favors turns out to be the player he projects to be, the Nets can let Murphy walk and get the cap space after this season.
