If Walsh's plan "failed"? How many of Isiah's plans failed? Seems like there was a new plan every couple of months. How does the man who's multiple PLANS have failed and set the franchise back years get to come in any capacity?

I have been a fan of this franchise since Louis Orr. Rory Sparrow. Ken the animal Bannister,Hubie Brown, etc. If Isiah comes back in any decision making capacity...

I think you're being unfair to IT- I don't think he ever really had a 'plan' to fail at achieving at any point of his tenure- he just kind of bumbled forward chasing after whichever new temptation became available. Honestly, how can someone who thought Eddy Curry AND zach randolph, could play together or that a back court of Marbury AND Steve Francis would work, be accused of planning?!

I there is any good reason to stop wasting time on this masochistic "entertainment" "IT back" is the best one.
If Stern will allow this to happen it will apply to all NBA. Having this kind of animal in any capacity around is an indictment of toll demise of NBA culture.

dolan is a clown. if walsh's plan failed, IT failed 100000x over. stern needs to ban IT since he is working with college kids. at least it sounds good enough to pull off.

it's so crazy it just might work!

After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

unless dolan is trying to follow george s ownership arc, i dont get it. george had some success early before turning nutty. this guy has been a clown from the start. maybe a good banning from stern will save us from more bad luck.

This is pretty bad. The franchise was taking such a positive turn, and now all this turbulence. WTF is wrong with Dolan? I was starting to support him too.

this might be the only acceptable reason for switching to the brooklyn nets. i used to be staunchly against switching teams, but now it appears that dolan is adamant about defying the fans. i'm hoping that the media is over-blowing this a bit with the purpose of showing what a PR ****storm it would be.

So here's the story we know so far:

1. Dolan asked Walsh to hire Isiah as GM but he refused. Dolan and Isiah agreed he would return as GM if Walsh OK'd it. Walsh did not.

2. Walsh told Isiah the news and Isiah went back to Dolan in his classic snake-like way and hatched a scheme without Walsh's knowledge that would make him part-time "consultant" for the Knicks.

3. Walsh was not told about any of this until after Dolan hired Isiah as a consultant. Walsh just found out Isiah has been in in Dolan's ear for months, if not years.

4. Garden President Hank Ratner, MSG President of Sports Scott O'Neil and others tried to convince Dolan not to re-hire Isiah but overruled them.

5. Nobody wants Isiah with the team except Dolan.

6. Walsh is livid and nearly resigned from the team after hearing the news but ended up staying on to finish what he started.

7. Walsh is pissed that he's been denied the opportunity to hire former Pacers exec Mel Daniels, Chris Mullin and Mark Warkentein on separate occasions but a consultant hiring is made without his approval by James Dolan.

8. Walsh will be 70 years old next year and Thomas at this point is in the Knicks organization and is closer to Dolan than anybody else working with the team at this time.

I'm a Knick fan in spite of Dolan and his nonsense. Stern did the best he could by convincing Dolan to hire Walsh and Walsh has honestly done his best to FIX all the damage Dolan has allowed, but ultimately nothing can be done to rid us of Dolan. He's a thorn we'll have to live with for a long time.

Maybe Stern can save us from Dolan yet again and find legal precedence to rule against this.

Well, given Donnie's condition, and seeing how he messed up the LeBron signing by showing up in a wheel chair (wrapped in a blanket with a thermometer in his mouth) is it any surprise that Dolan wants a younger capable man ready to step in case it should become necessary? It would be irresponisible not to do so.

I will always be a Knick fan, even more so if Cap'n Zeke comes back because of his motivational management techniques and the entertaining brand of basketball that he brought to the garden.

It must eat Isiah up that Donnie came in and brought in Mike and now it looks like they're about to do what he originally wanted to do. Remember he originally wanted to put together a long athletic fast paced team. In his defense or weakness he couldn't do what he wanted cuz Dolan wanted a quick fix not a rebuild. That's why Zeke went after the players he did. Dolan only went along with the last 2 years cuz the Zeke era nearly caused a fan revolt. Now Dolan feels safe to do what he always wanted with his pal Zeke and an ideal roster.

I just want to see some basketball. IT is not going to be GM for another two years at the earliest, so I am not going to go crazy over this. Dolan is going to hire who he wants and after the team makes the playoffs this year, the fans are going to back off enough to let him put IT back in the GM spot in 2012.

Not just any snake, Dolan is Voldemort and Isiah is Nagini. Our only hope is to find some teenage player with scar on his forehead.
But then again you probably want Isiah here, coaching Agent 0 as our start point guard don't you?

It's obvious in reading this thread that some posters such as AnubisADL just prefer continuous turmoil for the Knicks.

IT was given enough time and did not produce a winning team.....and bottom line he was a failure on all counts. He failed at shielding the Knicks basketball operations from Dolan's tinkering. He also failed at running the operational side. He also failed at managing the financials of both Basketball and the Operation by driving the Knicks into debt with poor roster and coaching moves and by also costing them millions in litigation costs. He also failed at managing the Knicks public image. He failed at Coaching the Knicks. He failed by turning Hall of Fame Coaches into seemingly clueless idiots. He's a failure at managing a business. This has been proven numerous times (for instance the CBA).....and even through all this, AnubisADL wants Zeke back.

Why???? Because Donnie Walsh did not get LBJ.

So IT gets to completely destroy an Operation over a longer period of time...and because he can smile nice and is Dolan's p!ss boy you welcome him back? But DW, a cancer survivor, get's blasted and needs to be replaced for making a recruiting trip in a wheelchair after NECK SURGERY??? I wonder how many of you have had neck surgery LOL. You'de be crying like little pussies!

Consider this.....who do you want in your foxhole?

A guy who battles cancer and other ailments and continues on when he can easily retire.... to see his plan/backup plan come together?

or

A guy who when the going gets tough and things look bad, takes some pills to make the world go away?

Sounds harsh - but that's the reality.
