Yup.
Gallo should be able to play at SF, PF, and occasionally at SG. Don't see why he can't get his 30 or so minutes, even if he is coming off the bench. If Amare, Randolph, Gallo, and Anthony were getting 30 MPG at the 3/4/5 spots, you still have 24 minutes to play around with. Take another 5-10 minutes from the SG position for Gallo/Anthony/or Randolph and you have plenty of minutes.
When it comes down to crunch time, you just play you best players, which is what you should be doing anyway.
It sounded like the Knicks did not want Gallo to get heavier- just stronger- during the off-season. Tells me that they want him to stay at a weight which allows him to play SF. I don't see why he can take on a few minutes at SG. You would rather have him there because he is the only player in the above group with some range on his J (Anthony is inconsistent from the 3).
If you want Anthony to lose some weight, maybe you try him at SG. With a good perimeter defender like Felton, and efficient help defenders like Gallo + Randolph in the lineup, you might be able to compensate for Melo's lack of speed on D if he plays SG for a few minutes. You can even go zone D.
