How the heck do the Heat have all this cap room? The NBA salary cap is a joke.

Looks like a vet minimum contract which is allowable.

Isn't $2.8 million over 2 years much higher than vet minimum? That's almost an LLE contract.

The minimum for a 10 year vet is $1,352,181

Not much demand for Eddie's services, I guess, if this is the only contract he got- or do folks really think he is signed with the heat for a "guaranteed" title?

When you got so many guys tripping over themselves to play on one team, it get to the point of just being stupid. And when you got guys taking so much less than market value to do it, the union can't be happy.

The Heat have went from the equivilant of the modern day Bucks to the Showtime Lakers in one year.

Bucks were in the playoffs, better than we can say.
Plus it ain't Showtime yet. They have to play 82 on the hardcourt first.

Ah, I see your comparison joe... Heat = Bucks = 1st round exit.
But I'm really interested in seeing the Scheme Team actually play. I'm done with crowning people king and teams champions before they are actually holding the hardware.

I think there is going to be a lockout after next season. I think the new cba will address the Heat situation . Also, the guy on Knicks Night Live last night mentioned that some salaries might be rescinded because teams are losing so much money. It was when he was talking about Melo but it was the first time I have heard anything about this. The owners need to be given back control and the playing field needs to be leveled again.

Yeah. The Bum came here and shot 25% from 3pt. range playing 20 min/game. Just horrible. Maybe he was moping that he went from a winner to a loser? Now that he is on the Heat, he may revert back to being able to shoot. I hope not. I hope he fails.

The guy on Knicks Night is a schill for the owners. He also basically said that Melo would not make more in endorsements by coming to NY. Not sure what will happen with the Lockout / CBA negotiation - the owners will cry poverty saying they are losing money. The players will asy how can you be losing money when they are pumping insane amounts into salaries and to market Europe etc.........and it will end up somewhere in the middle.

He said endoresments increased with winning and I think he is right. I don't think with the national media, internet etc the way it is that playing in NY has the same impact on a star player's endoresement potential. I went to a Suns/Nuggets preseason game in'cuse two years ago and the stands were filled with Melo jerseys. I know it was Syracuse but I think star power in todays world can overcome geographic location.

That's so weird, because sometimes Melo wears a Syracuse jersey!

Perhaps to some degree you are correct. However you cannot totally discount local media coverage of say New York
vs err...just off the top of my head...South Beach. Let's be serious. Nor the number of shoes/jersey's that would sell in the local market vs smaller metro area's. It may have less of an impact...but that impact is still there.
