bill walker has torn the ACL in both of his knees, and i believe 2x in one of them. so 3 major knee injuries over the past 7 yrs or so. i don't see why ppl are lamenting this as a bad deal, this is a great deal. brown was tailor made to play in an up-tempo system. he is a good defender, has a championship pedigree, and can absolutely JAM on people. how is this a bad thing?

Shannon Brown can provide backups to both guard spots in case of an injury. I'm ok with his signing.

Shannon Brown is very underrated. I'm OK with this. Better than trading Wilson Chandler or a 1st for Rudy Poo Fernandez. You really can't complain about adding rotation player from the NBA Champions. Hopefully Brown takes our offer.

eventually we will all revisit how Donnie has rebuilt this team and what type of players he has targeted and at what price. Seem to also recall some hints that Donnie wouldn't bring in 2-way players because of the type of coach he had hired. All I know is that Knicks have length, youth, athleticism, potential in their players. No way is it a finished product, obviously, but it sure is 1000% better than what we have been used to over the past decade.

How much actual cap did we have left and if we did sign him to a 3 year contract with options--could we front-load it anyway?

Im not sold on the Turiaff starter gig. I wonder if he gets re-routed. And 2 other things If Azubike is healthy and 95% of what he was--hes easily over both Douglas and Walker--not even questioned. Also I think it would behoove us to go even 9-10 deep. I think we have the cogs to do it and I think it's a strategy that would really help the team long term to prevent injuries--one of the things w e have is depth and we should use it.

D'Antoni isnt going 9-10 deep in his rotations. We dont need a bunch of "salty" guys who aren't getting minutes. Walker, Chandler, and Azuibuke are going to be in contract years. Do we want to add Shannon Brown to that? I dont think so.

Just keep adding versatile players on short, small deals. We're going to need the depth if we're to make a trade.

Walker, Chandler, and Azubuike are all ending deals, so very likely we're trading them.

lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Id rather go 9-10 and I think that the Knicks realize they had to enhance their bench as well.

Donnie Walsh offers the contracts. D'Antoni decides who see's floor time.

Darko deserved every minute he sat on the bench.

I think he's a good Tony Allen type. I do wonder about his bball iq and the fact that he never played significant minutes in big playoff games for the Lakers. I thought he'd have some value vs. Nash, Westbrook, DWill & Rondo.

Andrew - I don't think Brown is capable, skill wise of intellect wise to play PG.

where are the capologists here--what is the maximum offer we can give Brown--let say for instance a 3 year offer with two options years--can we add a bonus or front-load to it to make it tough on the Lakers to resign him? they are way over the cap.

Because the exact terms of Mozgov's contract, Felton's contract and Amare's contract are not revealed, it is hard to predict. Best guess? $3M with 8 percent increases.

$3M
$3.24M
$3.5M
$3.78M
$4.08M

So 5 years $17.61M plus unlikely bonuses (like $1M for playoffs)

You know I gonna spin wit it

I'll add that if they did anything other than contract that matches Felton (2 years with a team option for the 3rd), there really must be another transaction in the queue.
