Minny is waiving Delonte West at $4.66 million expiring contract. Anyone understand why they are waiving him? Is Cleveland going to re-sign him?

I think Delonte's deal is not guaranteed - meaning Minnesota can waive him and it doesn't count as a cap hit and they don't have to pay him anything.

Its actually not a bad move from Minny's perspective. West ability to play 2guard makes him more valuable to them then Sessions as well as the fact that his contract is ending.

Though they should have never signed Sessions in the first place.

I agree. This was a deal that basically recognized that Sessions was not working so you trade for West and cut him and save your franchise about $12 million. It was a salary dump and probably the best move for Minny right now. However, Kahn should trade the Rubio pick next summer once Rubio is eligible to come back to the NBA. Rubio is never playing there, and Minny could get a boatload of assets for him.

According to the HoopsHype salary chart, D West has a guaranteed salary, not a team option.

Kahn has no tact but I will admit he corrects his mistakes quickly.

it's been well documented that DWest can be let go and only $500K is guaranteed on his deal.

If that is the case, it makes sense to let West go.

The triangle doesn't even require a dominant point. You sure as heck need a dominant scoring guard though. it makes zero sense that he's bringing in all these guys. Flynn and Sessions look terrible in that system and you hurt their trade value immediately in that system. To go out and sign another pick and roll guy is just crazy stuff. There is no way that the Knicks, running SSOL, and the Wolves, running the triangle, should ever be eying the same PG's to sign.

Minny needs a BJ Armstrong type who can play defense and stretch the defense.

Rubio actually fits into the "bad for Minny category," too, and he may be a worse shooter than Flynn or Sessions.

Kahn should have had a signed coach in his pocket before the draft. I'm not even sure how much time he had to get a coach after being hired, but to not have a coach and system before a draft where the T-Wolves had a ton of picks was sheer lunacy, IMO.

Kahn does have a core of young talent all 24 years old or under,

Beasley #2 pick (but immature)
Love - #5 pick
Flynn - #6 pick
Rubio - # 5 pick
Corey Brewer #7 pick
Wesley Johnson - #4 pick

This guy is one of the worst GM's I have seen in a long time. The poor fans of minnesota, first McHale. He made one decent move and that was trading foye and miller for the number 5 pick.

He needed to take cousins and package flynn and jefferson together and move on and actually build a team. Beasley was a nice move, but Darko, Ridinour, nothing for Jefferson.

It's guys like these that bring credibility to anyone that thinks they can be a GM

I don' think its cool to blast other Gm's when we have made playoffs once in 10 years.

The common thread is Glenn Taylor the owner. Dude has his hands over the franchise.

He has very young team and trying to build with a system.

He undid a mistike. Its costs more to keep the mistake. West can be bought out for 500k.

ALL Teams make mistakes!

The guy got verbally posterized by Cweeb! That was great!

The Weed comment about Beas was harmless but rules are rules. HE said the kid was immature. Big deal.

Kahn has a long way to go before he fills Isiahs shoes as douch bag exec of the year!

It would be incredibly ironic if he ends up in Miami. It would be a media field day.

He'd be taking his talents to south beach and lebron's mom would be happy

Decent salary dump, but why the f did he get Sessions anyway? Just so the Knicks couldnt get him last year? He never had any room for Sessions on that roster. It never made any sense.
