that's a playoff starting 5 w/o a doubt & you have 2 superstars to build around... i'd do it.

Add in a Curry for Okafor swap and I think NOH agrees. They get out of OK4's contract, and get two young prospects in Randolph and Chandler. May even require a 2014 1st rounder, but I think the money they would save from Okafor's contract would be enough.

C - Okafor/Turiaf/Mozgov
PF - Amare/Turiaf
SF - Gallo/Fields
SG - 'Buike/Fields
PG - CP3/Douglas

Report: Paul Has Demanded Trade To Knicks, Magic, Lakers

Jul 21, 2010 9:24 PM EST
According to a source with knowledge of his plan, Chris Paul has requested that the Hornets trade him to the Knicks, Magic or Lakers before the season begins.

"He wants out," the source told Ken Berger of CBS Sports. "He wants to play with another superstar. He wants to follow LeBron's model of teaming up with other great players."

You have to love how RealGM takes an article and overemphasizes it.

Paul has made no demands and it doesn't state in the article that he did.

Curry can be traded for him pretty close to outright depending on the salary space calculation. -- I mean, the we could still save them some money by tossing in $3M, and we could include some young players like Bill Walker and Toney douglas and/or wilson chandler

someone wrote this on realgm.. is it true?

I believe they can trade Felton (and anyone else on the team) right now. The 2 month (60 day) rule only applies if the team is over the cap. The Knicks are not over the cap.

60 day rule is only for players acquired in a trade. Even then, that doesn't apply to us since we're under the cap. So Turiaf, Azubuike, and Randolph can be traded at any time.

For two months after receiving the player in trade or claiming him off waivers, if the player is being traded in combination with other players. However, the team is free to trade the player by himself (not packaged with other players) immediately. This restriction applies only to teams over the salary cap. (Also see question number 75 for a special case where players can be traded together in less than two months.

For recently signed players, we have to wait 3 months or December 15th, whichever is later. So Felton, Amare, and Mozgov can't be traded until Dec. 15th.

For three months or until December 15th of that season (whichever is later) after signing a contract as a free agent. This obviously does not apply to the trade completing a sign-and-trade transaction (see question number 79). Interestingly, however, it is unclear whether this rule prevents a player who has been signed-and-traded from being traded again prior to three months/December 15 (see question number 83).

Sorry but I'd prefer not to trade for Paul until he proves to be back to pre injury form, and a little put off by him signing with the same idiots who were behind 'The Decision'.

Donnie has put us in very strong position to acquire either Paul or Anthony at some point in the coming season. I don't think we can get both, but I think we can get one. (I'd prefer Paul, if healthy.)

agreed... i think it's a no brainer for us... if the Hornets would be up for that package (big IF), then we make out like bandits in the deal... of course we'd be building a franchise on top of 2 superstars who have been somewhat injury prone in recent years, but i think you have to do it... even if we're losing the chance to sign Melo in 2011 by making the deal, who cares... we'd be getting 1 of the top 2 PG's in the game in his prime... you get CP3, Amare & Gallo & you have a real foundation finally.

After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

What do Orlando or the Lakers have to offer New Orleans for him at this point?

Does he have any contractual say as to where he gets traded?

I doubt he has a no trade clause... I'm sure Portland and New Jersey will make strong pushes for him, as they have previously.

Paul is a beast and the Knicks definitely need to try and acquire him. My concern is that I beleive that he had his acl removed like Blair. That may not mean a lot but my guess is that it limits the years he can play. If he was draft pick I think he is worth the pick. As a known commodity I think you go for him but I don't think you commit more than 5 years if you can't get the contract insured.

He tore his meniscus. After reading this article, I'm actually worried he may not be the same player, or require constant knee surgeries in the future. He's still really young though.

Im going to puke if I hear another trade Ar or Gallo and everything else for Chris Paul thread. You guys don't know business--you work from strength not weakness. Right now the Hornets sit in a strong position--they will sck us dry for a player who NEEDS to prove he is healthy. On top of which there is no Flocking way Im trading Gallo or Ar for ANYONE not named LBJ and that is not happening anyway--Give Felton a chance my goodness--stop freaking out--we have a good young team. the WORST F move would be to trade all of the young guys and have Chris Paul and Amare Stoudmeore blow out their F knees in the fist 10 games. If you REMOVED Gallo and Ar from this team and added Chris paul we would still NOT be close. Lets play with what we have.If I see one more trade our core for Chris paul I will counter with 30 Bynum posts:)

Personally, I would rather keep everyone we have and then see if we can sign Carmelo out right next offseason- I'd rather do that than give up stuff to aquire CP- which do people think is the better team, honestly:

PG- Felton
SG- Chandler
SF Carmelo
PF- Gallo
C- Amar'e

Back up SF/PF/C- Anthony Randolph,
Rest of bench: Walker, Douglas, Azubuike, Musgov, Fields

OR

PG- CP
SG- Azubuike/Walker
SF- ? (maybe Gallo OR AR if we're allowed to keep one)
PF- Amar'e
C- Turiaf

Bench- Douglas, Musgov, Fields

CP can make all the lists he wants, of all the teams he wants to go to but he has no leverage- he still is under contract for 2 years. Don't see Lakers trading for him, can't see what Hornets would want from the Magic either. Look, we'll probably end up with neither CP or Carmelo, so can't we learn from the past 2 years and stop focusing on how players who aren't on our team will save us, and just see how what we do actually have works out first?
