I think any negative feelings toward the players need to stop (or at least wait), because as someone already said, we were going to lose Lee anyway. Sounds like Turiaf can be a decent defensive big man, so even if the other two don't work out, we at least got someone to protect the rim. I can't imagine there being any other better deals for Lee, to be honest.

And I'm fairly certain that all young players are knuckleheads and do stupid things: Amar'e, Kobe, Mello, etc

Doesn't meant they won't be good or mature as time goes on

Here is the quote i was talking about, from just after the trade:

"I need to raise my basketball IQ," said Randolph, who averaged 11.6 points and 6.5 rebounds in 33 games last season. "I've learned that it's not enough to just be a guy who is athletic."

He's tougher and smarter than people think, IMO, but we'll see soon enough. I think he wanted to show off and use his ball handling skills in the past, and I think some people confused that with him being an idiot.

Very emotional, John Starks was highly emotional but he was cool with the fans in NY.

Fans, including me, loved that about Starks.

Nice quote. He does sound intelligent when he's interviewed. From this remark, he seems to realize the importance of using that intelligence on the court.

What you have to do with AR is let him go--let him play. I think he's a lot smarter than people think.
His use of the dribble is something to be exploited--not hidden. Remember Chirs Bosh played PG at times for GT. A Randolph has the ability to bring the ball up on occasion even without the rebound. He's very versatile and that is what can make him great for his size. Very few athletes at 6-11/7-0 have his skills.

LOL at that making him a headcase. I guess some people forgot how Bryant used to play during his first few years in the league.

AnubisADL this is what I saw gallup do in Europe, I was expecting him to do the same instead of being a spot up shooter.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

AR moves like a guard! I think he was really starting to get it before the injury. He's in a great spot here with a coach as creative as MDA who will look for ways to use his many skills. I imagine a lot more big to big passing, which is something I've always liked seeing. Remember how great C Webb and Divac were? I can see a little bit of that happening with Gallo, AR n Amar'e.

Judging a guy for not getting along with Don Nelson is foolish. Chris Webber clashed with Nelson and the GSW shipped Webber. It took them years to recover from that debacle and Nelson was coaching elsewhere shortly after he forced the Warriors to trade a budding superstar.

I think AR can blossom here. Expectations should not be set too high, but he can be a special player. I hope D'Antoni shows some patience with him.

True, he wouldn't be the first one to clash with Nellie. I agree about D'antoni, that's my
only concern.

It was Nelson that sat Starks to play Hubert Davis. Nelson wanted the offense to go through Anthony Mason instead of Patrick Ewing. It's no wonder he didn't last a year as the Knicks head coach.

Josh Smith is scary good. When he focuses on passing, defending, and finishing around the basket he is an all star. Smith's problem is he believe his offensive game is better than it actually is. Sadly Anthony Randolph is no Josh Smith.

How many people here had a high professional IQ in their chosen career at 20 years old?

Anthony Randolphs NBA career is in it's infancy. How old was Kevin Garnett when he reached his peak?

Willis Reed?

Dave DeBusschere?

This is not good news about AR, cause nelson bench al for the same reasons, and when he got here, we all saw why

Al was not a youngin when he was with Nellie. We have to give AR a bit of time.

I did not like AR before due to his demeanor and I don't like cry babies, but he is with us now. I fully support him and wish he develops into Odom 2.0.

Willis was ROokie of the year.

DeBusschere at 22 was also a major league pitcher for the Chicago Whitesox.

By age 24 he was player-coach for the Pistons.

We can WISH and HoPE that he developes into a great player. HE has many tools. MDA plays a high tempo game but so does nellie.

GS has some "WIN NOW" and a great forward in DLee and we don't think Nellie is staying with new owner.

If he issue free he would be untouchable.

He is tall, quick, great athlete, not great IQ, and immature.

Give the kid a few years. THis is rebuilding folks, lots of ?????????????

But AR is a good foul shooter, so if he works at it, he should be able to develop a good mid-range jumper.

I was watching the fifth summer league game that Cosmic posted during which the announcers interviewed Donnie. When he was asked about the trade, Donnie seemed to want to talk about AR. He mentioned that he was interested in AR during the draft a couple of years ago, but he was concerned about AR's weight, so he went with Gallo. He also mentioned that AR has put on some weight - which is good news.

AR does have a low IQ because he himself said he needs to raise his basketball IQ just a few days prior to the trade.

As long as he knows he has to become smarter in the game than that is good. Most players never admit that weakness in their game.
