Suffer a life threatening injury you piece of garbage.

Yeah, he should have said "Titanic" instead. Or maybe "Pompeii". You gotta go far back so you don't offend.

lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Wade released this statement:

"In an interview yesterday, I attempted to explain how some people may view the Miami Heat losing a few basketball games in a row during the upcoming season. It appears that my reference to the World Trade Center has been either inaccurately reported or taken completely out of context. I was simply trying to say that losing a few basketball games should not be compared to a real catastrophe. While it was certainly not my intention, I sincerely apologize to anyone who found my reference to the World Trade Center to be insensitive or offensive."

this is a non-story...

look i am mad at the heat too, but this is a silly attempt to find anyway to justify hating the 3 amigos...

read what he said, wade implied that if they go on a 2-3 game losing streak fans/media are going to make a huge deal out of it.

Forum Po Po and #33 for a reason...

Miami has so much bad karma around them, it's scary to think how this story ends.

Oh well. It's done. He apologized (although, he kinda implied it was the media's fault). Anyway, let's move on.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

dont know if you caught it all but apparently FanHouse or whatever *may* have misquoted him the first time around but quickly re-issued quote in article.

He would know about the Titanic, doubt if he could conger up Pompeii in a comment.

Should have brought up Chicken Little and the sky falling.

Could also have said "It's not like Delonte West is banging LeBron's momma, or anything serious like that..."

From the Associated Press:

Wade apologizes for reference to 'World Trade'

By TIM REYNOLDS (AP) – 1 hour ago

MIAMI — Dwyane Wade issued an apology Monday to those who may have been offended by his use of the phrase "World Trade" while answering a question about the upcoming Miami Heat season.

The All-Star guard made the remark Sunday before the annual charity basketball game he co-hosts with Alonzo Mourning.

Standing at his locker before a group of reporters, Wade said:

"There's going to be times when we might lose one, two games in a row, maybe two games, three games in a row, you never know. It's going to seem like the world is crashed down. You all are going to make it seem like the World Trade has just went down again. But it's not going to be nothing but a couple basketball games lost and we'll have to get back on track."

On Monday, before leaving on a flight to Los Angeles for some television appearances — he was previously booked to talk with Jay Leno — Wade issued an apology through the Heat.

In the statement, Wade said: "In an interview yesterday, I attempted to explain how some people may view the Miami Heat losing a few basketball games in a row during the upcoming season. It appears that my reference to the World Trade Center has been either inaccurately reported or taken completely out of context. I was simply trying to say that losing a few basketball games should not be compared to a real catastrophe.

"While it was certainly not my intention, I sincerely apologize to anyone who found my reference to the World Trade Center to be insensitive or offensive."

AOL Fanhouse initially reported the guard saying: "If we lose a couple in a row this season, it will be like the World Trade (Center) is coming down again."

Hours later, AOL Fanhouse published a different version of the quote, citing a transcription error and an editor's note saying, "we deeply regret the error."

Well, I also heard it on ESPN. He may have been misquoted slightly, but he still had no business mentioning the WTC at all in his comparison. That being said, he apologized. I wish the apology had sounded a little more sincere, but it's done. No need to harp on it. Let's move on.

It was a mistake and very poor judgement on his part. I think I am more angry with his pretentiousness. I really don't care what they do next year and will not watch them unless they play the Knicks or are in the playoffs. Stern and the owners need to set something up in the next collective bargaining agreement that does not allow for this type of thing. I am only interested in the Knicks and teams not in Miami at this point. I am sick of hearing about the three stooges and I like what the Knicks have done. I think there is something to be said about having the integrity to win in a traditional manner.

He should have put:

"It ain't like I left my kids in chicago so I can play with my friends in Miami"!

Or:

"family is so important, chicago is where my heart is and my kids, but my buds are in Miami"

Dude was filming the whole thing for a docudrama.

the fact that he would lay the blame on the media for misinterpreting his own words is kinda funny tho... just own up to your mistake & apologize, don't try & deflect blame on someone else for your own indiscretion... he did say he was sorry if people were offended, but using that media twist copout excuse was lame IMO.

...So Donnie should immediately send his thugs people out to Denver and New Orleans and demand that they give up Carmello and Paul to us RIGHT NOW!

Correct words: "You all are going to make it seem like the World Trade has just went down again. But it's not going to be nothing but a couple basketball games lost and we'll have to get back on track."

Incorrect words: "If we lose a couple in a row this season, it will be like the World Trade (Center) is coming down again."

Should have said that he made a very foolish comment about a subject too serious to even be mentioned in the same breath as Basketball, and that one media outlet's interpretation made his foolish/thoughtless statement seem totally irresponsible and insulting to people affected by that tragedy. Then he would have to go on and give a heartfelt apology.

I got a feeling when the heat play the knicks the rivarily will be back. Wade and Lebron are going to try and Bury the knicks. I 'm waiting to see Amare Randolph and Gallo step up and give it to them.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Should the words World Trade Center be stricken from the English language? I get the sense that people read Dwayne Wade using the words World Trade Center and wanted to jump all over him no matter what his intent or words were.
He wasn't comparing basketball to the WTC tragedy he was simply saying that people will make an entirely too big of a deal over a few lost games because a few losses in basketball is nothing compared to the WTC tragedy.
