as someone else said: that arrest may have been Wilson's death sentence for his Knicks career.

it seems like in mickey mouse dolan world, once you get pulled over by the cops - you are toast as a Knick. got to be a mickey mouse cadet. sigh.

Weak at shooting 3s and he would be playing at a position where we really need a sniper from deep. You could be right- might be something else being looked at by Donnie, and not just Howard.

I am not sure that I would take Howard over Chandler at this point in their careers, and to be honest, I am lukewarm about Rudy as a player.

I would hate it, honestly.

If we were going to let Wilson go, Anthony Morrow should have been the target.

Makes no sense because Josh Howard has way more baggage than Saint Wilson Chandler.

You do it because Josh when his mind is straight is a legit starting caliber talent. He would not require a big $ investment and wouldn't require a long term deal. If it works out great. If not he could be cut or traded.

Josh Howard, if healthy, is a baller.

i'm not a huge josh howard fan - he's had his share of issues as well as injury issues, but when he's healthy, he's an all-star caliber player. if we are actually interested in trading chandler, then this is a good replacement and maybe he can come in here, have a big year and we can ressurect his value and use him as an asset. if we can get him for 2/3mm per year, this is a no-brainer.

NEVER sign a guy coming off an ACL if you expect any sort of production within 1 calendar year. Note: he tore it in Feb and the guy isn't known for his work ethic.

Howard is notorious for his marijauana use. I believe he was very open about his smoking habits and it scared off a lot of teams in the past. Again, Wilson is just 23. What happened was out of character for him but not outrageous for a 23 year old. I hope he isn't being judged because of that.

I have no problem with Josh Howard, but I want him non-guaranteed past year 1. I want us to be able to drop any assets we need to get Carmelo. I see him being a possible asset, but not at the expense of the pieces we really need.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

yeah, agreed. for one year he is a decent risk/reward type guy.

We are at weak depth wise at the wing position. I like Buike as a player (Nigeria representing) but he's hurt and we have no idea when he's coming back or how long it will take him to get into shape. If Chandler gets hurts, we're looking at some combination of Douglas, Fields and Rautins (as the roster currently stands). That would be a defensive disaster given Douglas's height. I say we go for the Howard signing if we can get him for one year. But honestly, I don't see him coming here for one year.

Why's everyone looking past Bill Walker? His advanced stats are better than both Azubuikes and Chandlers.
You know I gonna spin wit it

BRIGGS wrote:We already have Azubuke who is injured--why do we want another injured guy? Im sorry but we need to address back up PG as I do not think T douglas-IF put into the role of LEAD PG would be a winning situation. Unless there is another trade coming--Im not comfortable with PG wit this team. Last year showed we need 3.
we needed 3 because they all sucked last year. Duhon we eventually benched because he was ineffective. Sergio simply wasnt good. Douglas brought some things but also clearly struggled to run the offense. Playing behind Felton should also help him.

Whats a backup PG do? 1) take care of the ball and 2) have a roll. Look at a guy like Charlie Ward. Play D, dont turn the ball over and hit some 3's. Dude did nothing to improve the offense.

Douglas is ok in the backup role for 10 minutes a night.

If you lose Felton for an extended period of time (god forbid) you just sign Earl Boykins or Rafer Alston or Derrik Harper.

Seems like he had his best year way back the 3rd year of his career.

I was thinking of Spree as a comparison, but don't know how legitimate this is. Spree came in as a defensive player into the league as well I thought.

If we do have Chandler though, he either has to start or get all backup minutes at 2 and 3. So the question is whether Howard is better than Walker, not whether he is better than Chandler. This of course assuming Azebuke is hurt and is not part of the conversation. I'm not sure when he is supposed to be ready to play.

At some point though we will have Gallo, Azebuke, Howard, Walker and Chandler and 2 and 3. Probably 2 too many players for an 8 man rotation that our roach prefers.

I guess if it all really does come down to if Howard is a better fit than Walker. Given Walker's small sample size and injury problems of his own, I guess we should do it.

A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

The funny thing is, why would the trade have to involve chandler, who's not even going to play sf this season anyway

Because he's not a SG.

He's more sg then josh howard, getting rid of him leaves a gapping hole at the positon, as a matter of fact, we haven't had a real sg since allan. If anything they should looked to trade chandler for a top sg like kevin martin.
