This business about the Heat being unstoppable is all well and good so long as every time they don't win it's acknowledged as epic failure. No excuses about Spoelstra not being a good enough coach, or "who could have foreseen Wade and Bosh both being injured?" or that they only get beaten because their bench is outplayed every night, etc.

This current Heat collection is still inferior to the Lakers. Who guards Gasol and Bynum?

I agree with that 110%. If they don't get to the finals this year it's a colassal failure and if they don't have 1 ring in the next two years it's beyond colassal. I think Lebron put more pressure on himself to win the ring in Miami than he had in Clev

Lets break this down:
scratch off Getzky, Farve. They won their franchises a championship. If Eli Manning said screw NY, the place is a dump and left to play elseswhere I wouldnt kill him. Nothing would take away that win against the Pats.

N/A:
Damon: He was a mercenary when he signed w/ the Red Sox. He wasnt their guy. He had already played for 2 teams before taking Boston $$$ and he won a title there and had the biggest hit probably in their franchise history in the last 90 years.
Iverson: left town on the downside of his career
Reggie White: Football is just different with the massive player movement. Plus he's not a QB
Deon Sanders: see Reggie White

Just not that important:
Boozer (scumbagged Cle) and Boggs. Good players but not franchise cornerstones. If the departure of these guys ruins your team you werent that good to start with

The ones that really hurt:
Kareem: before my time but ouch
Shaq: left Orl high and dry, won titles w/ Lakers

Lebron is easily the worst and biggest villian of this group. He's allowed to go play in Miami. Good for him. The prime time show where you publicly diss your home state? Wow. Gilbert was right in everything he said. Lebron should have met with Gilbert, said thanks and moved on. Gilbert would have had no choice to accept. You reap what you sow. Lebron deserves every bit of backlash he gets.

On a side note I like the move to Miami. I think its good for the sport. I also think that while they will win a ton of games it doesnt make them a favorite in the playoffs until they show up with a front line that can compete with what Bos, Orl, LAL put out there.

Man, you are on a roll. I agree with everything you said here. To add.

Gretzky and Farve - Their respective teams actually got something in return.

Jabbar - You can add Kareem to Gretzky and Farve. The Bucks got a lot of talent back. They got the Lakers 2 first round picks which was #2 and #8 overall.

The only one that really comes close to Queen James was Shaq but Shaq never did this crap that the vagina ever did.

why is it good for the sport to have 2 of the top 3 players playing on the same team..would you pay to see a movie if you already new the out come

You can't make a blanket statement like that. All owners probably want to win a chip, just as all athletes do. All owners don't do the things necessary to accomplish it, just like all athletes are content to receive their check.

That's what I mean "All owners don't do the things necessary to accomplish it" Players like Lebron and Wade and Bosh do, they take a pay cut to prove it, just to try and win a chip.

How much did Lebron leave on the table 20- 30 million dollars to play in miami.

You say all athletes are content to receive their check. TELL THAT TO MICHAEL JORDAN LARRY BIRD MAGIC JOHNSON, they would laugh at you. They and the franchises they played for were on the same page ! And if the owners would slack off they would have demanded to be traded or would have left as soon as they became a free agent.

NFL markets teams, not its star players.

NBA markets its players.

NFL thrives off of close games and fans love it!

Your team can go from worst to first and win a superbowl.

NBA, two teams have won 62% of the titles, BUlls won 10%, and others make up the difference. Its history has been of teams that are dominant.

As a kid we did not go to NET games to seek a game, we went to see the specticle that was DR J! We go to see stars perform. You don't know if your team is going to win but you want to see a great game with great plays!

Yankees don't win every year. Yanks don'w win every game. Fans flock to see the Yankees and marvel at their talent and root AGAINST THEM.

The Heat will sell out on the road. They will draw better than cleveland did on TV. The HEat have been nothing the last few years.

I'd say this is good for the league. The owners hate it cuz now players are colluding and trying to take control. Players do't put up their own money and now they seek control. They will try to get that control back.

Gilbert is dick, but he got royally smoked. Not since Magic lost Shaq has a team been so hosed. They took Less money. Who would have thought!!!!!!

Its great that over the years players can now cotrol their own destiny as never before. But Its the NBA and the teams that make the stars. It backfires once in a while.

Lebron and the NBA will be fine. Lebron will be bigger than ever!

And NYers will want Paul and Carmelo. Just wait.

My point was this, If you have a superstar player like Barry Sanders and you flat out refuse to build a winning team around him that forced him to just leave the game, to me that horrible ownership. And the that same franchise proceeds to draft wide recievers as their #1 pick for I believe 3 consecutive yrs what is that telling the rest of the team ?

My belief is if you have a SUPERSTAR on your team who's tops in the league and while he's signed with your franchise and you refuse to build around him then you are just using him to make money, never truly intending on competing for a championship.

Now on the other hand if you are Eddy Curry.........

The Orlando Magic lowballed their offer to Shaq, thinking he wouldn't call their bluff. There was also friction between Shaq and Penny, jealousy from Penny over Shaq's top billing.

Clemens was not re-signed by the Red Sux in '96 because their idiot GM Dan Duquette thought he was past his prime... he went on to win multiple Cy Young awards after that for the Jays & Yanks & was a key component of back to back World Championship teams in NY... he didn't leave the Red Sox of his own volition the way Lebron did.

After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.
