If all goes right AR/Gallo explode, Felton (top 3-4 fastest PG in the NBA) goes Nashville in the MDA offense and the Knick size and skill earns them a finals meeting with the Lakers.

If all goes average with some good luck by adding a PG from a playoff team and the best post player from another playoff team along with adding some size and skill gets us a 5-6th seed and a hard fought first round battle with a team like the Hawks

If the Knicks have any significant bad luck for example if Stoudemire gets injured, we still have a solid PG and a lot of size to keep us in games. We won 30 games last year with no size and no PG. We could still hover around .500 in such a scenario

Washington has Wall, Hinrich, Javale McGee, Andray Blatche and Josh Howard. I see them surprising a few people. They are going to be solid.

I agree. I think the East is going to be fun to watch this year.

No playoffs. There is still a lot of work to do. To many things left unproven for the Knicks. Lots of ifs nothing that is guaranteed. Amare isn't even a guarantee to put up numbers without Nash.

1) Orlando
2) Miami
3) Boston
4) Chicago
5) Atlanta
6) New York
7) Milwaukee
8) Charlotte

LBJ chokes in the second round (so does Bosh), especially at the Garden, and the series comes down to the size of Wade's balls

Why are people predicting Charlotte to make the playoffs? Who is their PG? They just gave away Diaw who was very good for them. I don't see them making it.

With the moves Toronto is making, I see them in the mix more than Charlotte.

Toronto has:

Calderon / Jack
DeRozan / Barbosa
Kleiza / ...
Diaw / Ed Davis / Reggie Evans
Bargnani / Amir Johnson

Cha is not making the playoffs. They lost their starting PG and one of their best rotation guys in Diaw. Of all the starters Diaw had the best +/- but let such things get in the way of your predictions.

Also I dont get Wash. They have some decent young bigs but McGee is still extremely raw and plays pretty far away from the basket. Meanwhile Hinrich, Arenas and Wall all play the same position.

Augustin/Jackson/Wallace/Thomas/Diaw will be moderately effective for Charlotte

I'm putting Washington in there. Arenas can shift over to the SG position and Wall can do the pg duties. Small setback for them is that Blatche had surgery. McGee is a very athletic Center. That back court is very capable of creating easy shots and can score also.

I think Orlando might still get #1 and idk what boston team to expect exactly. Philly might knock charlotte out.

I'll second this list.

i agree with the top 7, but the 8th seed will be a total wildcard, i think.

philly, washington, detroit are all better bets than charlotte, i think.

i think detroit might surprise some people this year if they're healthy.

I can only imagine the mouth frothing hate that would spew if we get Arenas and tried to play him at SG. Yet for Wash its a positive. Please...

so much has happen/might happen it's hard to keep it straight... I'm not so sold on CHA then, but Calderon is an upgrade on Augustin but I don't know now. I like Toronto more even without Calderon because Diaw, Chandler, and Barbosa just blend well together. We'll see if the finesse works

So I suppose I just changed my answer

^ yeah, that Toronto/Bobcats/Phoenix trade keeps getting more and more complicate. did not realize Chandler and Calderon were involved. I thought Chandler was in HOUSTON???

anyhow, Toronto, with:

Jack
DeRozan / Barbosa
Diaw / Kleiza
Bargnani / Ed Davis
Chandler / Amir Johnson

is my pick for the eighth playoff team.

nice job re-tooling so quickly, DJ.

Why do you think we are better than Wash, Det, and Philly? I think we are right there with them. Other than Amare and Felton and to a lesser extent Gallo, we have question marks all over the place.

Chandler has gotten banged up at the close ot two straight seasons. Plus, he's playing out of position for us. We have no reliable, legit SG. We are still rather small up front if you figure that Jordan wont be ready and neither will the Russian. Randolph has tremedous potential but it isn't realized yet. Other than Gallo, we dont have a reliable shooter. I dont think we have enough to separate ourselves from the other teams that will battle for the 8th spot.

Wash's 3 best wings all play the same position in Wall/Hinrich/Arenas. Moving one of them to SG is the same as us moving Douglas to SG. Wash isnt big upfront at all. Blatch plays away from the basket and McGee is totally raw.

Phili is terrible, unless your banking on Brand returning to AS form.

Detroit... really?

Knicks... Felton is a good shooter at 46% and 38.5% from 3. 63% of his scoring came off jump shots. He's streaky, a lot like Spree was. Gallo can shoot it and Douglas can shoot it. Amare can also shoot it well enough to draw out opposing bigs, so can Chandler. Chandler may not be a 3 point guy but he's money from 15 feet and thats important.

The only glaring weakness w/ the Knicks is they dont have an extablished rebounder. Lots of size but not a clear cut role player there. Amare is OK and does outrebound his opposition.

I do think Knicks are CLEARLY ahead of Phili/Det/Wash with proven playoff veterans in Amare/Felton

^ yeah, i agree we are ahead of Wash/PHi/Det.

i think Toronto might be in a similar boat as the Knicks... but they have a big hole at PG now. and we have Raymond Felton, so we might be ahead of the game there.

i think the knicks will be on a par with Toronto, maybe Milwaukee as well... Atlanta could backslide a little, too.
