You create the aura and you carry yourself a certain way and if you don't measure up to the hype that you have created for yourself you have to step back, rebrand yourself, or you are a hypocrite. He and his people have a lot of control over how he markets himself- I just don't want to see the same crap coming from him anymore, and I don't want to hear any announcers calling him "King James" for hitting a shot in some meaningless game.

Come clean and begin to compete as a true athlete and as a man, without the BS pomp and circumstance, and he may rehabilitate his rep, but I doubt that this egomaniac has that ability.

He is not only a coward but he is a hypocrite.

To NY- Bravery

Actually, it was very cogent and makes a lot of sense. Nalod is gently calling out those of us (myself included) crying over our rejection and trying to assign blame. But the truth is we really didn't know what made Lebron tick, what sort of fellow he was, and we obviously sized him up all wrong. That's not an indictment of Lebron. He made his choice based on his interests, regardless of what everyone else expected of him.

I see tired man. Tired of caring his team, his city, his state, bunch of his bodies and relatives all alone/
I see man who need peace of mind, need to accomplish something together with his friends and chill out.
I see the real man, not the King, not the Icon, just a man.

Well, is it really his fault that the "King James" pun/nickname comes so easily to us speakers of English in predominantly Christian America?

I think this is what he just did last nite.

I said: "the crown ain't for everyone".

If he diluted his brand, which is what many are saying then he has abdicated his crown.

Regarding him being DWades bitch, we gonna have to see who is the alpha male after a year or two.

Maybe Dwayde gives him the keys to his franchise?

I still think what he did is basically an admission of weakness. But he IS 25 years old and he genuinely wants to win at ALL costs. Can't blame for that. . .So from his perspective I am sure he understood he taking a gamble (in terms of his Legacy). But the way this was done is immature, vacant and narcissistic. For someone who obviously covets adoration of his fans this was a terrible mistake

The weakness was perhaps not his leaving Cleveland, which was a brave thing to do, and not so much joining in Miami, but in giving in to vanity with the temptation that he can do no wrong.

The fantasy of his high school buddies really being the best advisors for him.

This thing spiralied out of control and sometimes you have to throttle it back.

Michael was a sociopath in his persuit of reaching his goals. Lebron is not that intense. Neither was Magic or Dr. J.

I think Mike was very troubled and his sabatical was necessary. Being that focused and competitive has to have a dark side. Marv knows the mind pretty good And I would like to see what he thinks.

IM going to guess mike has a very ugly side to him. He is human.

Does not have paternity suites, been caught cheeting, arrested or accused for rape, DUI or drugs. He or his group has not been accused of shooting, beating or stabbing anyone. His dogs don't fight. His dogs does not eat or eat childrens ears. No Steroid talk. He comes to training camp on time. Does not crash motorcycles or have mishaps on a docked boat. Does not break bones in fights. Does not shoot his limo driver or bring guns to work.

Does not cheat on his taxes, over speand, he pays his bills.

dudes boring!

What this all tells me is we didnt really know Lebron. Clearly he doesnt want to be the king. Maybe he's just tired of the burden of it all. Maybe he just wants to be one of the guys. Its his life.

Nalod, sometimes its not what you say in life but how you say it. If Lebron quietly met with the teams and made his announcement Monday night after 1 weekend of FA like he originally said you would not see this kind of backlash. Putting it out on this grandiose stage like what Lebron wants to do with his life is the most important thing in America was poor taste, especially for Clev as he leaves that franchise in bad shape w/ no compensation.

He brought this on. If you dont want backlash over your decisions dont have a 1 hour prime time special about them.

I hear you, it is just such a shame that someone with THAT type of talent would never reach his potential because he lacked the intestinal fortitude to do so. Some people lack "drive" and there really is nothing wrong with it. But it's still a huge loss for basketball. A potential MIA - NY rivalry could have elevated the game to new levels.

Forget about all that nonsense....

Lebron wants to be a role model and a winner. He wants to be the best player in the world. He failed on all counts and if you want to flourish close to the light - you eventually might get burned. There are worse things then being a crackhead and womanizer.....

By going to Miami - he shows he's a coward and afraid to be "The Man"
By staging the Decision on National TV - he shows that he is nothing more then a Whore
By holding the Press Conference 12 Miles from the Knicks Practice Site - shows he is a clueless Punk.
By refering to himself in the Third Person - shows that he is an arrogant narcissist
By not wearing a suit to his interviews and for the Press Conference - shows that he has no respect for anything
By barely mentioning the fans of Cleveland - shows that he's an Ahole
By referring to the great things he did for Cleveland - proves that he's a Jerkoff.

The guy can rot. Not matter how good of a player he is. He will be booed in many Cities when he comes to town....he will now be a hated man.

I agree with foosballnick. He really dug himself into a LOSE-LOSE situation. The best possible outcome of that scenario would have been for him to return to Cleveland which most people would have understood, but even then, he's a huge a-hole for having raised the hopes of several cities and actually had the audacity to have them fly to downtown Cleveland and pitch him.

I feel he and his boys grew up in a world idolizing the lifestyle portrayed in HBO's Entourage and they just rolled with all these terrible, terrible ideas about how to handle his free agency without considering the true life consequences.

His boys made the first big mistake.

Nike and the list of advertisers can't be happy.

Lebron got some bad advice on this one.

They used the free agency to build his name recognition but you gotta know when to not go too far.

They almost played it very good.

THey went to far and while not intentional, they really handled things wrong.

THeres an old saying: Be careful who you screw on the way up cuz they will be there on the way down.

Lebron was very adament about the loyalty thing and trusting only a few.

Maybe he did not listen to enough people or they gave him bad advice.

Another LeBron jersey? Meaning you already own one?

the good news is Cleveland tickets in New york and Charlotte and ATL are gonna be easier to buy.

I guess all those dormant Heat fans will pop up again with new gear.

If you are a self-proclaimed Knicks fan but you own a LeBron jersey, I got questions for you. Even if it's a USA one.

To me, you lose your pass to call LeBron "D-Wade's bitch" if you yourself wear a non-Knick's name on your back.

I've never owned a jersey or shirt with another player's name on it. I have a Mr. Met "00" t-shirt because I know that guy ain't leaving.

Unless your name is James too, maybe you are LeBron's bitch.

Another point I just thought of while noticing the James Heat jersey is now in pre-sale:

Maybe we should have read more into his jersey number change from 23 to 6.

Maybe he was saying: I'm no Jordan. This is too much on my back. I want to do my own thing.

he took the easy way out, so people don't have respect for his decision... going to NY, CHI, NJ or staying in CLE he would be taking on a challenge & trying to prove why he's the supposed "King", but he didn't choose any of those paths... instead he chose to go to South Beach, bang hot Miami chicks & have fun with his 2 buddies in South Beach to make a dream team that no one could possibly compete against, at least in their minds... i have a feeling this decision will be hugely regretted by him when he looks back on this years down the road... all the concerns about preserving his "brand" & he chooses the path that probably hurt it more than anything he could have possibly done short of committing an actual crime.
