This isn't a measure of how Donnie has done...To be honest, he did an ok job, not a great one...The goal now is to sign players who can compete with with LeBron and Wade, thats Carmelo...Donnie cannot relate to these players...The Knick needs to position themselves with the type of people who can bring them in...Donnie can't close the deal...

What, in this narrow perspective, what do YOU think could have been done. Not everyone is ready for the big stage. Some chose the comfort of their little cliche. Aside from this unvieled collusive effort, how did you see it playing out. They all have CAA as their agent, from Riley to Spodestra. The deck was stacked. The results assured. A phony show.

Vecesy's article about Walsh's health seems to indicate he may have to retire. I have never heard of routine neck surgery and I think Vecesy is more accurate in his assessment of Donnie's health. If Donnie goes I don't think D'Antoni finishes the year as coach. Walsh has protected him and at least some of the questionable personnel moves were made to get rid of guys that D'Antoni chose not to use or D'Antoni had issues coaching. I don't think the next GM is going to be as accomadating. I also think that there is no way D'Antoni can mail in another year, a 1-9 start this year should lead to his being fired.

SAS a few days ago said he personally heard players say the would come to NY if Isiah was here...He said the players didn't blame Isiah for the Knicks debacle...Clearly, they want people they can relate to...Donnie went to the interview in a wheelchair...How does a 69 yr old guy relate to today's players...Doesn't bode well for the virility of the Knicks does it...Carmelo is on deck can he close the deal...Dolan had others trying to close it for him...

for his health's sake & for our franchise's sake, it's probably better for him to retire.

Now it's 4 first round picks we gave up?

Need to brush up on your math and evaluation ability there I think.

Jordan Hill - TRASH
Jared Jeffries - TRASH
2011 SWAP - A SWAP we still have a 1st rounder no matter what.
2012 PICK - The LONE pick we gave up.

Come'on now.

This is worse than an old man telling war stories. The story goes from wounding himself in the foot to killing 75 men with his bare hands while his entire troop cowered in the dark.

Why do you keep mentioning Jordan his sucked? Walsh drafted Hill so that is failure right there.

You are so transparent when it some to Walsh.

Please enlighten me what did Walsh do that was so special?

- Randolph and Crawford were traded AGAIN after having a worse year.
- Traded the 2012 pick and a swap of the 2011 pick
- Traded our 2009 lottery player to move a 2011 expiring contract

Walsh's plan failed plain and simple. This team reminds me of Isiah's because it is full of forwards and we lack PG's, SG's and center.

We could have saved some cash and just forbidden Isiah from making transactions that added salary.

LOL, you can make it sound like it was Donnie's decision when everyone knows it wasn't. Donnie did everything he could, but he couldn't make Lebron's decision for him. And for that he deserves your hatred, I can see that.

I agree. I think Donnie has been seen as what is right and stable about the Knicks. If he looks frail and on the verge of retirement I think that would cause concern.
As far as relating to the players isn't that why Mike D'Antoni was brought in?

Oh, I get it now, you were in love with Isiah and are still fuming over his departure and the tearing down of his 23 win 146M dollar payroll. Now I see where you come from.

Hill? Terrible pick. Donnie admitted it like a man. We've moved on...it happens as unfortunate as it was.

The rest of what Donnie did? I guess you don't consider restoring a franchise to respectability special.

Most of us do, however.

I see the bitching and moaning yet no answer to the question I raised

Compare today's roster with the roster Walsh took over. He now has two lottery picks from the Gallo draft, a five time all star up front, cap flexibility, one of the younger rosters in the league with tremendous upside potential vs the roster he took over Old, lazy, overpaid and strangling flexibility. Which one do you prefer the one he took over or the one we have now?????

The roster has developed we are in a better position today than when he took over. it is not perfect but is still a work in progress and is poised to improve from here. Again "Which one do you prefer the one he took over or the one we have now?????"

So.....if we had some other magical GM.... LBJ would have said YES to the Knicks?

Doubtful. Putting LBJ's decision on Donnie isn't right.

Melo on deck? Doubtful. I think he's quite happy with his very good team in Denver.

I'd rather sit back and watch the rest of the summer unfold before I worry about what we missed out on and who we will target in 2011. Long summer, plenty of un-used assets, S&Ts in the works involving the Knicks all over the place.

How about this: We wait and watch the team finish it's summer business and THEN critique the roster we have before us?

Instead of just thinking that what we have now is what we're going to have come October....

It's not answered because those who have continuously trashed Walsh and the Knicks since 2008 HAVE NO ANSWER to LOGIC.

The same would have happened in 2011 if Donnie sat on his hands...We would have been here WITH our draft picks..

I am gonna pay attention to the Denver team this year and see when/if Melo signs. It's a TON of dollars to NOT gaurentee, but I think he has until June 2011 to sign.

They failed big time last playoffs, albeit their coach was down and out.

Kmart is falling apart. Chauncy is OLD and will decline FAST. After that? Their roster is a FA in Nene and Ty Lawson. It's not a team built for the long haul.

How many free agents did Jayz and the new Nets owner land again. Your using an organization that got shut out as a standard which is weird.

Lebron signed to be with Wade and Bosh, since Wade didn't want to leave Miami, Miami was the destination. It has nothing to do with the owners but all about Wade, Bosh and James playing together. The key was to convince Wade to leave Miami.

Also the moves Walsh did allowed us to upgrade from Lee to Amare which will lure free agents for the future as well as move Lee for basically a lottery pick in Randolph.

All good points.

Maybe Melo will be the 2011 score.

In the meantime we have other work to put in. Summer is far from over. All these assets and cap space. Our front office will put together a competent team for this season I believe.
