You think the NYK will be a lottery team next year? Puleeez. We already have Amare and still have millions in cap space and a nearly $12mil expiring. We are going to make the playoffs as at least an 8th seed.
As to Donnie, he did EXACTLY as he promised. He NEVER promised we would get Lebron. In fact, we should have landed Lebron and only didn't because the dude doesn't have the sack to handle New York. It was a personality issue, not an opportunity issue. Donnie cleared the decks of all the detritus that had collected, landed us a perrennial all-star PF, and gave us maximum cap flexibility to build an MDA style team. What else could he have done for us?
Some of you like to complain about the Fishlips trade (which undoubtedly hurts after missing on Lebron) but it was necessary to be in the game. So we didn't get our man. But we aren't heading for the lottery either, so those picks are not exactly going to be guaranteed stars.
I say "job well done" to Donnie thus far. Hope he stys to finish it. If not, snatch up a guy like KP and let's keep this rebuild rolling.
