My favourite line from that Lebron show was when he stated that the whole FA recruiting experience had "been so humbling" as he sat on an elevated podium with the words "The Decision" splattered across it in the midst of a one hour uber hyped special show. I hate his decison more as an nba fan than as a Knick fan (though that hurts too), like people have said- it's killed alot of parity there was in the league, they'll be fewer equally mached rivalries and we'll never again see Lebron Vs Wade, and even other stuff like Carmelo or Kobe Vs them won't really happen because they'll be going up against Lebron AND Wade and Bosh. Its also finished off 2 teams (Cavs and Raps) for quite a few years. I also think the NBA will be robbed of seeing those players (particularly Lebron and Wade) of actually achieving and displaying their full potential- they'll have to complement each other now and tone down parts of their games. I think it's also killed Lebrons chances of leaving a great legacy. The league has lost a lot of competitive matchups and it's a real shame.
I must admit sometimes I think of that miami team, and how they'll be able to add role players over the coming years, and can't help but think "whats the point?!". But I am clinging to a few bits of hope- that the refs will no longer be so generous when it comes to calling fouls for those three, that the new CBA will put a stop to the mid level excemption thus hindering their ability to add good role players each year. I also hope that their chemistry will suck, and I also look back on some of the US basketball teams where you looked at the roster and thought how can they possibly fail to get gold medals, yet they crashed out and ended up with Bronze- I hope the same thing happens here.
Anyway I might go on about this today to get it out of my system, but after today I won't be talking about Lebron anymore and i hope most fellow knick fans won't be either- we've wasted far too much time, resources and attention on him, and it became clear in that interview that he never had any real intention of joining us at all.
