You don't think New Jersey would've made the same offer? Chicago? Im sure a few teams would've gotten involved with sign and trades. Knicks and Amare joined up early in the process and he wanted to come here. He did the visit, saw the bright lights and made the choice he did. He had visits lined up elsewhere but didn't bother with them.

I like that he seems to want to be in New York, and he's set a positive example of a guy signing with another team. More old-school. I like that.

i got respect for a guy who's up for the challenge, but so was Marbury & we all now how that turned out... i hope Amare is the answer to all our prayers... God knows we deserve a winner in NY!

Yup, before all this began I hoped the Knicks would sign Bosh and I was pretty much against Amar'e, but as it all unfolded Amar'e really impressed me with his attitude and lack of Bosh-Wade-Lebron style grandstanding. Also one of the first thing Amar'e said was the need for the team to play defense and rebound, and later said he wants to be the best all round player he can be- he seems to know what his weakness are percieved to be and seems to be pretty determined to work on them (though it could be all talk of course!). Either way at last we have some leadership from the best player on our team- one of our problems over the past few years are that our 'leaders' have been largely talent free, which diminishes their stature and makes them less likely to be listened to. I'm hoping Randolph really benefits from him. Anyway Amar'e had the guts to come here even with no guarantees of another star coming and he's not afraid of being the only star here either- unlike Bosh who would probably be in tears now if they were in each others shoes, so I salute him!

I don't know why ESPN used this song for LeBron. This is Amare's theme song.

I was so mad they used this song for Lebron.. Amar'e deserves it.. I found a great interview with the guy tho: http://video.msg.com/Home/Amar-e-Stoudemire-Interview-7-8 love his enthusiasm

I don't think there will be a problem unless somebody wants to make a problem, ... If they really want to make a problem, they're going to have to make a decision about how they want to spend their adult life in terms of playing in the NBA or not.

Word TMS.

I love the enthusiasm
But NYC chews up and spits lots of enthusiastic, talented, confident people.

If you can make it here, you'll make it anywhere
But if you can't make it here
you're F*cked.

Let it be known: I believe in the Knicks this year-- deep into the playoffs, I swear to you my brothers...

Based on what I have seen the last few days, Amare at least seems to have the right attitude to make it in NY. Where as tat other guy chickened out and didn't have the right attitude for succeeding here. So we should just get behind the guy who seems to be happy to be a Knick and root for him.

Only in the right type of package. I see a 3- Way with the Wiz and the Shanghai Sharks looming here, Knicks get Zero and Truckbury!

I'm actually a huge fan. Getting his jersey for me and my son.

If he can stay strong this year, we may end up reincarnating the 8th seed that upset the number one seed back in the day...who was that the knicks beat again?

Let's go Knicks. That's amare

I am hoping Stoudemire can be a leader in the locker room. Legler talked a lot about how much he changed this past year and how a dark cloud was lifted from the Suns locker room. He has overcome a lot and that alone shows that he has tremendous character. I think he will be great for Randolph and Jordan.

VDesai wrote:This is the best player the Knicks have acquired since the Grunfeld/Checketts era ended in terms of resume and record. A guy who's won playoff series, a several time all star- no one we've acquired has had his resume coming in here.

And best of all he wanted to be here. He's ready to revive the franchise. He is an athlete with stones. He is Amar'e.

And btw his last year under D'Antoni he averaged more points and rebounds in fewer minutes than he got in either of the last 2 years.

Welcome the new face of the franchise- someone who wants to fill that role.

I hope so. VDesai i mostly read this board for your analysis as i don't post to much anymore. I am excited.

Amare was the first free agent of significance to declare for the Knicks and for that move he was a leader

he didn't need ESPN, a televised interview or a national audience

I dig that about him

once a knick always a knick

Amar'e is more mentally tough than Bosh. amar'e will lead by example. I am glad we signed him.

i'm still not 100% sure i can buy totally into this guy's bravado... it sounds ridiculous but when i watch him on tv he seems to like to pine to the cameras in interviews with one of those cheesy ass Zoolander 1 eyebrow ****ed expressions on his face that sorta wreaks of self-adoration & arrogance... but then again, it takes supreme confidence & arrogance to make it in this town, but like i mentioned before about Marbury, being ****y & arrogant doesn't mean jack unless you can back it up on the basketball court... there's no doubt Amare plays like a grown man on the basketball court... hopefully he's up to the task to take this franchise to the next level... i really, really wanna love this guy

Marbury wasn't arrogant. Arrogance transcends confidence sometimes.

He was just a dumbazz.

More like wishful thinking.
