Q: YES! YES, YES, YES!!! Please write about Anthony Randolph! I've been telling people about him all year long. There's never been an NBA player with his size and skill set. Ever. He's a looong 6-foot-10, runs like a gazelle, has great hops, and can handle the ball. Love it. As an added bonus, he looks like he's constantly crying or really getting his feelings hurt. He's fascinating. I get genuinely giddy any time the Warriors are on, for him alone. Can you please let America know about Anthony Randolph?
-- Aaron, Chicago

SG: He's one of the most breathtaking rookies I've seen in person -- ever -- for all the reasons you just described. There has never been anyone quite like him. He's like a cross between Josh Smith and Lamar Odom, only if you fed him 10 Red Bulls and told him right before the game, "If you can make 10 things happen during the 10 minutes you play tonight, we will quadruple your salary and you will start for the rest of the season" ... and then he does just that, but the coach reneges on the promise so Anthony has a near-crying meltdown on the bench. That's every Anthony Randolph game. I caught him once and, in the span of two hours, he made three "MY GOD!" plays and broke down on the Warriors' bench because Nellie wouldn't put him back in, followed by an assistant consoling him through an entire timeout like Randolph was a third grader who got in trouble for something he didn't do, then had a meltdown and got kicked out of class. It was riveting. The odds of me missing another Clips-Warriors game for the next five years are 10,000-to-1.

One other thing: There hasn't been nearly enough made of how screwed up the Warriors are right now. Their front office and ownership situation is a world-class mess. Their coach has been in "I'm Keith Hernandez" Mode since the 2007 Dallas upset and looks like he's actively trying to get fired. They have two young players everyone loves -- Randolph and Monta Ellis -- only they've been antagonized to the degree that it might affect them long-term. In Randolph's case, how can a lottery team not play a talent like Randolph 35 minutes a game? What the hell is going on here??? For some reason, the only media member who seems to care is Tim Kawakami. I don't get it. If I were a Warriors fan, I would be organizing protests outside the arena complaining about Randolph's playing time. It's insane. Imagine if Chicago was 16-50 and played Derrick Rose 10 minutes a game. Would you think that was weird? You would, right? Welcome to Anthony Randolph's world. This is the single weirdest subplot of the 2008-09 season, narrowly edging Zaza Pachulia's bacne.

We would still have plenty of room to sign a couple of guys like Luke Ridnour (Who Stoudimire supposedly wants to play with) and Mike Miller. Am I wrong on this?

Rugged when healthy.

Yup. Only a 2 yr contract at $4M per, though.

actually that's a playoff team.

Amare-Curry
Randloph-Turiaf
Gallo-Azubukie
Chandler-Walker
Luke-Douglas

That's a great emerging front line and there is plenty of space next year to make a trade or just plug a parker or melo in there.

AND Curry's expiring contract, and Wilson Chandler to dangle, b/c he is up for an extension. So we can spend a little this Summer, add our second round picks, get Randolph and Turiaf and Azabuke (sp?) and have some money to throw at 'Melo next Summer.

We're in a good situation.

He's not someone to get excited about. He's a role player who's not going to hog the ball, but he can shoot very well. He'll help us. :-)

Don't get ahead of yourself. We think we have a playoff team every year.

For that to be a playoff team, Ridnour can't play like a backup and Randolph has to show he's a real NBA player and not just all potential.

If this goes through it is not a bad night for us...it gives us some good, cheap, young players...some trade chips ( I believe AR and KA are in the final year of contracts)...and some depth.

It might not be a night of Lebron...but it might be a night where we have officially gotten back on the right track...I am actually excited (for the first time today)!!!!!

The guy did very well last year with the Bucks, especially during the period of time when Jennings was playing poorly. He was a significant contributor to their playoff run. The guy is not the answer at PG, but he is not stiff.

Huh? Why?

I'm an Ellis fan... I thought he was brilliant when the Warriors took out Dallas and I think he's a fast, efficient offensive player

Reported as Kelenna, Turiaf, Randolph.

I'll take it and be happy

Donnie is actually building his kind of team. All kinds of size up front: Amare, AR, Turiaf, JerJordan, Gallo. I like it.

We do need some guards though.

Speaking of Golden State - I'd love to tender Anthony Morrow an offer sheet. Maybe the final component to that trade is Golden State promises not to match?

Anybody hear anything about Randolph's progress regarding his injury?

Turiaf is a good shot blocker also. I haven't heard about Randolph's recovery but I am just glad they are keeping him in the trade and not substituting Ellis.

Ellis efficient? I just disagree totally.

We are better off without that headcase here.

Randolph has 3 years, Turiaf 2, and Azubukie 1.

To bad we didnt have Whiteside but the addition of Randolph with Gallo and Jerome Jordan gives us a very young athletic lengthy frontline to add with Amare and Turiaf. Well be better defensively--we have good young nucleus upfront and thats not even including Chandler and hopefully Fields.

Too bad things over the last two years I wish we changed that we had control over--picking a PG last year[almost anyone was good} and not being scared fiscally to spend on a 25 or 31 pick to get Whiteside. We need to get a really good Sterngth ans condo coach and have Randolpk and Jordan up to 240 and 260 respectively.

On top of it we dont have to compare gallo and randolph--we just have to hope play great together and i think they will.

Kudos to the Knicks --sorry to see my man Lee go but it was happening.

Two lottery picks out of the great 08 class on the roster would be awesome. Randolph is a steal if he is healthy in this situation.
I am surprised the Nets aren't going hard after Lee.
