Randolph and Amare would be a nasty combo down low in a speed-ball offense.

Yeah...Who needs James.

On a serious note- Randolph comes in at under $2 M this year. Can we fit him in, pick up a decent PG, and sign some filler?

Could we also squeeze a draft pick out of them?

we can't do a sign and trade with the warriors if we sign a max free agent.

the warriors are over the cap, so they'd have to send back matching salaries, eating our cap room.

this is a great option if we don't get you know who though.

i would love AR.

Who else might we take (want). Nyets have no cap issue, so we would not have to worry about taking matching salaries, but what do they have who compares to Randolph. Don't think they would want to give up Favors.

if DLee goes to the nets i HIGHLY doubt it will be in a sign and trade. they'll just sign him out right.

it would be another shot in the developing territory wars.

no way in hell the nets deal with us for dlee. they'll overpay rather than deal with the knicks.

Would rather have Ellis than Randolph.

i would take both. say, we're taking ellis' contract off your books. give us AR.

only if we strike out on Bron.

Monta
Wilson
Gallo
Amare
AR

not bad.

no doubt. they have to send over someone like monta to make the contracts work anyway.. i'll take that lineup as a fallback no doubt.

Doesn't seem like thats on the table but clearly that would be ideal. It sounds as if its either Ellis or Randolph + Trash

Are we really talking about this?

We get Randolph at the expense of Lebron? This isn't good news. This is bad news. Really bad news. Terrible f***ing news.

it's a decent option if lebron doesn't pick us. it's no lock who he chooses yet.

Tell that to everyone else on the board, including those who have invested thousands in the Knicks getting Lebron. :/

ive invested in getting lebron, but to me, i'd be happy to get a young player with a universe of potential. obviously getting lebron is better, but randolph is going to be a very good player. if we get ellis too? that's a great 2nd prize.

hey, man, i've been trying to preach caution. some people are hearing what they want to hear. the stock market is not infallible. remember the housing and credit crisis? it's all based on speculation.

greenwich CT might mean everything, it might mean nothing. most likely it's a convenient location for ESPN and Bron to get to.

for all we know, jay-z left bron the keys to his mansion in greenwich.

we don't know anything until 9:15 tomorrow.

Do the Knicks have to renounce Lee in order to sign Lebron? If the answer is no why can't Lebron sign first and then a S&T to GS? I thought the Bird Rights allow you to sign your own free agent no matter what your cap structure looks like.

The answer is yes. If the Knicks do not renounce him, he has a caphold even though he has no contract and we would not have the caproom for a max FA. Also, to sign him after signing LeBron would put us over the cap and that would be exactly the same as a FA signing over the cap, which as you know is impossible.

Don't necessarily disagree...just following up on the story and the fact that the author speculated that the Nets could make a better offer. I am assuming that Lee would believe the best situation for him would be a 6 year contract at less $$/yr than a 5 year deal.

if the 5yr deal is more money overall - why wouldn't he take the 5yr? we're dealing with a russian billionaire here.

though i don't think the nets are very organized right now - no GM as of yet. i think thorn is helping for the time being, but they certainly wiffed on every big free agent thus far.

So should we also be worry about Bill Walker? I think July 8 is the day that his option becomes guaranteed as well.

with the higher cap number i don't think there's any way the knicks renounce bill walker.

cap number is set tomorrow - hahn is saying it's higher than $56.1M. could be good for the knicks, could be great for the heat...
