yeah, i believe that numbers will never be able to accurately describe the game of basketball.
if they did, people wouldn't botch the draft so badly year after year.
That's not really a valid conclusion IMO. You're talking about the translation of college level ball to the NBA. There are all sorts of confounding factors involved that wouldn't be in NBA player comparisons: For example, players are facing vastly different competition levels (so it's hard to know what to make from player stat comparisons) and many of the guys haven't even fully physically matured.
