Don't underestimate it.

He can also do the 3 year deal with the Cav's and then leave if he does not want to feel too guilty about how he is treating his home town.

it's a little different when you are also looking at the potential of making your first Billion.

Come on man this is a whole state that needs the guy. Im a big believer in keeping your own--I have no problem with him staying on Clev--in fact that was the first post I ever made on the subject. The Knicks could/should still be good WITHOUT James(how many championships has he won?) . WAY to much emphasis has been PUT ON James and the so-called 2 max players. When i get pirsed off about droppeing a Lee or not going after a certain guy in the draft--it always because I am a big believer in building your own house--and using FA and trades to enhance it but not be the foundation for it.

sorry I am a KNICKS fan. I don't give a flying phuck about the needs of the state of Cleveland.
If he is the best player available and would raise my team from dismal to instant contender status I would do everything and mortgage everybody to get him. Cleveland be damned.
I don't understand why people gripe about trading Jordan Hill and not re-signing Lee. It's great to build your own, but when the situation you are in makes that impossible you try to take advantage of available opportunities.

It is what it is, Ohio is essentially trying to guilt LeBron into staying.

He needs to do what is best for himself though because if he stays and never wins a ring, he will regret it. For all the arguments that the Cavs make about "needing" LeBron, they would be better served to make an argument that they can surround James with the proper players to win a title. Notice that they haven't/can't make that argument though and that will likely be their downfall in the end.

You can't ask the guy to give up his life aspirations just because you "need" him. The Cavs haven't shown yet that they can put the right supporting cast around LeBron.

What if his ultimate aspiration is to be governor of Ohio?

Then good for him if he stays.

That's fine.

But then don't bother putting him in the same breath as MJ, Kobe, etc.

S'pose if Arnold can manage it I suppose it is possible. And he wouldn't be the first but then that possibility exists in NY as well. However probable/improbable it may be. Arnold wasn't born in California obviously so where you are from matters little.
There has to be an agenda his team has put together. Just as Knicks brass should have a set of achievable steps in place with a title as the result. He should and likely does have an agenda.

Depends what he wants. It is not a unheard of for an athlete to have used sports as a spring into politics.

But if being a billionaire and winning NBA titles are part of his agenda he has to look long and hard at NY.
'Specially when he can come and choose whomever he wants that is not under contract.

If he is going to feel guilty about leaving now what will he feel when he leaves in three years, probably the same.
