Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports went on the air with Michael Kay on ESPN Radio to discuss points he made in a story Wojnarowski published Friday.

In that story, Wojnarowski wrote that the Knicks had been virtually eliminated from the race to sign LeBron James and that he and his camp were unimpressed with New York's presentation.

Shortly after the segment with Wojnarowski, a representative of the Knicks called Kay to refute the Wojnarowski story and the claims made by his sources. Further the Knicks suggested that someone may be attempting to undermine their chances to sign James. The team insisted that its presentation to James on Thursday was successful and apparently well received.

There have been rumblings in recent days that those closest to James are concerned about him playing for the Knicks and what implications there might be for the power balance around the superstar. There have been some indications that Maverick Carter, James' closest friend, is opposed to a move to the Knicks.

However, it is unclear who Wojnarowski is referring to since he cites only "sources" but does not indicate their position in relation to James or their particular knowledge of James' reactions to the presentations he received.

You're not a poker player, I expect.

Why show your hand?

How is "feedback" defined by Houston, by the way. For all we know James might have asked questions but gave no "feedback" as far as comments on the merits of what the Knicks presented to him. Did folks expect James to say "jolly good show, my good Knicks people- give me my pen now- I have decided!"

I'm older than most of you guys, and remember when U.S. intelligence experts used to analyze each word of a Soviet leader, or the significance of where each Soviet figure was standing in a video or a photo, and who was in or out of favor. I'm starting to get flashbacks.

Thing are starting to get a bit crazy.

Probably not the best example, but the Clippers GM also said that Lebron held a poker face through much of the presentation....As you said, he's not going to tip his hand.

What utter tripe, the presentation was pretty strong. If Lebron has any type of business sense he would see that. Or he could just ask Sabathia if he would feel the same about playing for the Mets.
Nets, Mets, Jets they all suck the same. always have always will.

Sounds like a leak from someone on the Nets trying to badmouth the Knicks to be honest. Woj was a Bergen Record beat writer and based out of Jersey, so one would think thats where a lot of his sources are.

Briggs - that Isiah reference makes no sense

if Lebron can't man up enough for New York it's cool

blaming the presentation is weak and you know it

The days of just giving a guy a Cessna, a kilo of Coke and bunch of hookers all seems so innocent now.

Lebron, take your handlers and go home to Momma. And Delonte.

Knicks preso actually sounded pretty interesting according to that Forbes article. Then again it was interesting to me, who knows what Lebrons people made out of it- but that headline of earning $1 billion dollars in NY is something to chew on.

Anyway at this point its not much about the presentations as much as its about how these teams answer Lebrons questions because its already obvious what all the teams have to offer at this point, its just about Lebron getting comfortable.

I believe that it was disorganized. The teams all needed to sell Lebron on winning, period. Then we floss through the excess stuff - off court plusses. I am sure it was presented. Exactly how, is anyone's guess.

Mike D'antoni is not a salesman. Donnie being in a wheelchair probably looked weird and weak. James dolan probably looked like a slob.

Houston probably did not say much.

Above all, it's been said Mav Carter does not want to lose his grip on his goose that lays golden eggs (Lebron) and Mav Carter feels this would happen if this move to NY was made. NYKs should have known this and assured Mav Carter a spot in the organization. Special assistant/consultant to the president and director of player relations. Who cares what Mav Carter would have been. Allay the man's fears. Get lebron to sign on the line.

Basically, the knicks needed to run interference on the hangers on in Lebron's ear.

Now word is being leaked that Wade and Lebron might go to chicago with derek rose? Please, there wont be enough basketballs for the three of them.

If the Knicks were confident--why are they crying to the media that someone is out to get them? Some poker face champ:)

Knicks, and any team going after James, have already "broken" their poker faces, Briggs. He's in the position of power, the Knicks have already shown their hand, my friend.

I think the idea that someone in the James' camp is doing some leaking seems very possible.

Also heard one reporter say that there are some in his camp who may not want to go to cities like NYC of Chi because they will go from being princes in Cleveland to common celebs in a big city, especially NYC.

This isn't looking to good. I believe the Nets presentation was extremely impressive and a tough act to follow. That being said, everyone has known the plan for two years and it was apparent going in that the Knicks as an organization would really have to sell themselves. This isn't Grant Hill, Jason Kidd or STeve Nash saying that they almost signed with NY. This the target of the past two years saying he was not impressed according to the source. It doesn't speak well to this management group that put themselves in the position of being taken advantage of for the past two years by other teams as they executed the perliminary steps to the plan. I hope Dolan recognizes what that even with money and the greatest city on the planet, he has still managed to turn the Knicks into a joke and that the guys he has in place now are not competent to get the Knicks back to where they need to be to be competitive.

Picking boogers over assumptions about something that only a handful of people were privately involved with is downright silly

Have a nice holiday weekend

Lebron knows what he is ready to handle

New York ain't for everybody

Just ask Mike Torrez, Charles Oakley or Randy Johnson

Knicks Dispute They're Out Of LeBron Hunt, Suggest Ulterior Motives

Jul 02, 2010 7:22 PM EST

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports went on the air with Michael Kay on ESPN Radio to discuss points he made in a story Wojnarowski published Friday.

In that story, Wojnarowski wrote that the Knicks had been virtually eliminated from the race to sign LeBron James and that he was unimpressed with New York's presentation to him Thursday.

Shortly after the segment with Wojnarowski, a representative of the Knicks called Kay to refute the Wojnarowski story and the claims made by his sources. Further, the Knicks suggested that someone may be attempting to undermine their chances to sign James. The team stated that its presentation to James was successful and apparently well received.

Wojnarowski also includes claims that James was turned off by Donnie Walsh's need to use a wheelchair due to a neck ailment, and that James was similarly deflated by owner James Dolan's appearance.

There have been rumblings in recent days that those closest to James are concerned about him playing for the Knicks and what implications that might hold for the power balance around the superstar. There have been some indications that Maverick Carter, James' closest friend, is opposed to a move to the Knicks.

However, the status of Wojnarowski's anonymous sources is unclear since he only generically cites "sources" but does not indicate their position in relation to James, or their particular knowledge of James' reactions to the presentation from New York.

That first bolded part is hard for me to believe and kinda throws the whole report into question.

Second part about sources also leaves a lot of questions to be asked.

and if Bosh, Wade are a duo for CHI, I can see why Maverick Carter would NOT want LeBron to go to NY (versus staying in CLE, for which he would not sniff championships for years).

Here is the part of the original Wojo story that pretains to LeBron's impression of the presentation.

The Bulls must make a strong case to James on Saturday to get him to take what would be $30 million less than the Cavaliers could offer. Sources say one team that all but eliminated itself with James in the presentation process was the New York Knicks. James met with the organization on Friday and his inner-circle has described New York’s presentation as lacking preparedness and organization. James’ camp also found it to be redundant to much of the New Jersey Nets’ far sharper, edgier presentation on James’ earning power.

James hasn’t been convinced that he can overcome the $30 million difference between possible Cleveland and New York offers through endorsements and other streams of revenue. However, Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov’s vision of bulking up James’ international portfolio did resonate with him, and the Nets vision of using Brooklyn and the owner’s international muscle does appeal to him.

Sources say that James is dubious his mere presence on the Knicks will be worth that much more to him in endorsements. The appearance of Knicks GM Donnie Walsh in a wheelchair due to a neck problem and the frumpy, unimpressive Jim Dolan didn’t provide James with an image of vibrancy.

Good question. Oak never seemed to have any trouble dealing with the city as a player.
