Hell yeah, they had like $2+M extra.

we can still keep Walker which is good. Dude is a player

Yes. And it's also a preemptive move against CHI too. Cause you KNOW if Amare is in NY, Bosh goes to Miami with Wade, and then LeBron would be left alone in CHI (if that's where he wanted to go).

Guess we were thinking along the same lines. Bosh to CHI will open up Wade for us. We have the First Mover advantage. Ol' Donnie rocks with the chess moves (Of course it is still not "confirmed")

This is good news because, despite injury & defense concerns, Amare deserved the max. The Knicks have not wasted any money.

If Lebron doesn't sign here, it would mean we'd have to start getting very smart with the money. Joe Johnson is not a max player. Save the money and sign a lot of good pieces rather than an overpriced piece.

Yeah--if you are getting the guy who played most of last season--than he is a max player--so the value is there despite the injury concern which is real. If they don't get a wing I really hope they decide to go Lee and another player. I think building the frontline with Gallo Lee and Amare--flanked by Chandler FA FA + Curry trade should make us as strong as any team in the east. I hope Lee holds off and gives us time and I hope the process moves fast now so we can get resolution.

I can live with Amare, Lee, Felton/Miller. And then perhpas shoot for Melo or whatever for Curry.

I want nothing to do with a frontcourt of Lee and Amare at this point. With an Amare I don't expect Lee to get the same looks. That post would be too open. If we strike out on LBJ, I would push all in on a CP3 trade and welcome back that overpaid OK4. Amare/OK4 would be better than Lee/Amare. OK4 would make sense then. That's just me though.

If this report proves Truthful (July 8th).. I can't say that I mind this signing at all! Kudos to Donnie Walsh, Mike D'Antoni, Allan Houston and MOST IMPORTANTLY Mr. James Dolan!

I'm not thanking anyone either until a contract is signed and he passes his physical.

If we don't get LeBron, we'll be stuck with a one eyed gimp for 5 years, probably only 3 of which he'll be of any use.

If we do get LeBron, I love the move and great job by the Knicks.

If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

Not for nothing, aAmare for 5yrs is still an upgrade at the PF position... I like D.Lee but the truth is Amare is just flat out better! MOREOVER, What other options do we have? Play the what if game next year w/ Melo??? Draft???

Just a heads up, Wojo is going to be on Michael Kay radio show on ESPN 1050 in like 20 minutes. He was supposed to be on earlier but looks like he is working on a story...

I agree on targeting CP3 and Melo if no Lebron/Wade. But is OK really the only center out here? I think Walsh has improved our chances of getting Wade by signing up Amare first. Bosh may prefer CHI with Rose as his sidekick.

Wojo just said Amare and his team are coming to NY this weekend. Amare wants to hear from the Knicks what the plan is as far as which players will be targeted to surround him with. Deal could be done at some point this weekend.

Also said Knicks are acting to get something done to avoid a worst case scenario (i.e. getting shut out).

Amare only appears to be better because of nash, Lee to me is just as good and if he ends up with nash his numbers are going to be arcade like.

Wojo "LeBron not wedded to any one of these forwards."

That he's ok with Bosh, Amare, etc.

Wojo thinks the Knicks did not help themselves in the presentation the other day. Says some sources called the Knicks unfocused and unorganized but also emphasizes that it was difficult for them to impress in that situation (maybe expectations too high?). Says the Nets did impress LeBron and have a puncher's chance at him.

Doesn't want to say the Knicks have no chance but from what he's hearing, they aren't really in a good position to land King James.

Continues to talk about how impressive the Nets have been despite only winning 12 games (e.g. Bosh, Wade have said how impressed they are).

Wojo didn't say anything about this next part btw, but ESPN radio is saying we are targeting Felton right now....

If our off-season consists of just Amare+Felton, I might puke....If we get Amare, at least bring Lee back too.

wojo just said that "according to sources" the Knicks presentation was disorganized and unimpressive. i think there will be an article on the subject to follow. just wanted to give BRIGGS the heads up so he can rush to post it.

I'm happy with Amare, Lee and Filler.

I'd be ecstatic if its Amare and Lebron.

the doom and gloom factor alone is making this great! Playa! Briggs! TMS! Someone quick!!! Post Jordan Hill's stats!

you're seriously a douchebag... i don't get the cheap shot at me when i've been saying we should get Amare signed so we could get a better shot at landing Lebron... this is much better than your brilliant plan of locking up David Lee to a 6 year $80 million dollar contract.

I hate Michael Kay but he's right, if this is true (about the Knicks being unfocused and unorganized during LeBron presentation), that's pretty sad after 2 years of preparation....

God I hope this rumor is wrong. They're speculating that maybe the message seemed unorganized b/c LeBron didn't hear what he wanted to hear (e.g. maybe Knicks talked too much about the city and not enough about building a team)...

i wouldn't mind that... last thing they should do is sign David Lee to play alongside Amare in this frontcourt like some people are suggesting... that would be the worst defensive frontcourt in the NBA.
