Jefferson must have gotten some really bad advice. He won't make that much in a 3 year deal at this point.
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

This is crazy. There is only so much cap room to sign FA players. A lot of the FA are going to get the MLE and some veteran's minimum as teams won't have the cap room to sign all of these FA.
The difference between fiction and reality? Fiction has to make sense.

there's only so many top names that can sign with teams & so many teams have cleared cap space for this summer, there's bound to be a number of them that get left with their balls in their hands after it's all said & done... those teams will look to the 2nd & 3rd tier guys to fill their roster spots & cap space... i think a team like the Clippers or Wizards would seriously consider signing a guy like RJ.

Wow, RJ is probably either extremely extremely confident that he'll get a nice contract, perhaps from the Spurs, or really fooking stupid and got some horrible advise. I have a feeling it's both.

Aldridge commented on this and said that it was totally based on the expiring collective bargaining agreement. He said Jeff must be thinking that he could get 25 mil over three years. I got the impression that he did not think giving up 15 mil was smart for Jefferson/

the word is that RJ will re-sign with San Antonio - gives San Antonio more flexibility this year and they'll give RJ a longer deal. Popovich is personally working out with RJ in San Antone.

That sounds accurate. Jefferson was a warrior for the Nets. I always hated but respected him because he backed up his talk.

This must have been one of those behind the scenes deals. SA must have promised him a 3-4 year deal at around $10-$11 million. I personally would look to do a sign-and-trade with Jefferson because keeping him did not get the job done last year. Either way, Jefferson took a huge risk. I would not sign him to a 4 year deal.

+ and got exposed playing without Kidd. Dude was vastly overrated to begin with, isn't the shooter we need and his athleticism going forward is suspect to say the least (imo)
the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt
