Keep David, add one of those second tier guys - preferably a big up front.

And then add another, third tier player, preferably young, like a Mike Miller, Ty Thomas, Tyson Chandler, or use Eddy's deal to get a player like Arenas, and try to not screw up cap flexibility too much.

So you dont want Amare and Joe Johnsone because you believe that squad wont crack 50 wins and be 2nd round and out every year, yet you want Lee and Mike Miller? Yeah, that combo will definitely get us our long coveted championship...

If we're paying Lee5-7 mil less then Amare, who won't play the defense we're looking for and rebounds just so-so. than we may as well re-sign Lee. If we spend in the 9-12 mil range on each signing, we can pick up 3 quality young guys as opposed to survivors of microfracture surgeries and disgruntled, lackluster all-stars.

Agreed. I would strongly consider keeping Lee and using the extra $7 mil on a pg or defensive minded big man. Aside from a franchise player, this team desperately needs a strong floor leader and an inside presence.

Lee is going to command more than 10 mil so we aint saving 7 mil by signing Lee and I doubt he gives us a discount. Yes, we need a pg, but even with Joe and Amare we can still possibly trade for Parker or sign him next season when he's a FA and Curry comes off the books. Amare would be our best interior player since Ewing, but I agree, we would still need a defensive presence to play along side him.

What are Joe and Amare going to do for us that they didn't do for PHX 3-5 years ago?

With Steve Nash and a better supporting crew

Exactly. We are better off holding out until a franchise player chooses us. Oterwise the cap money will be wasted on mediocrity and 1st-2nd round playoff exits. Only Wade and Lebron are worth the max.
