Darren Collison, not! Hornets would want to rid themselves of Chris Paul instead because of his big contract. Even if we did take Chris PAul, they would want us to take Omeka OKafor as part of the deal.

We definitely need a pg. Thats what happens when last yrs draft had surplus of pgs in the 1st and 2nd round but we ended up with a forward in jordan hill. MAkes no sense... Knicks mgmt is horrible!

I'd certainly be willing to take Okafor if it brought us Paul. Paul's a star and Okafor's contract isn't that bad - especially if we can get rid of Curry in the process.

Under normal circumstances I'd seriously consider that Ira, but in order to ensure offering two max contracts to LeBron & Bosh together, we wouldn't be able to take on Okafor and Paul. I actually think Okafor/Collison is the better trade option for us right now --- we'd get a center/PF shot-blocker and a good up and coming PG that opened a ton of eyes last year plus we'd still be keeping the two max idea intact. That's the way to go...Or if SA really loves George Hill & wants to rid themselves of Parker and his contract, we trade for Parker using Curry+..I like that idea as well -- Parker's a proven championship level PG..

I tell ya man, if we don't pull off a trade for a roster upgrade soon, it's almost an embarrassment to even proceed with the LeBron/Bosh sit-down. I really think a big trade is absolutely necessary in order to have BIG success in this FA process. Think about it --- the desirability factor can be broken down very simple here: Chicago can offer Rose/Noah/Gibson + 2 max slots; Miami D. Wade/Beasley + 2 max slots. As of right now, we can't really compete with that....But if we somehow added Okafor/Collison or Tony Parker to a mix including Danilo Gallinari (to me Gallo's pretty much right on the same level as these other teams' 2nd best players), I think it would definitely go a long way in evening up the playing field a little bit and quite possibly have LeBron & Bosh rethinking some things... To me that's all this should be about right now -- leveling the playing field. They obviously didn't want to do it through the draft in order to keep maximum cap space available, so now the only other alternative left is to pull off a deal that improves the outlook...If we don't, I don't even see the point of flying to Ohio to talk to this man..LeBron and Bosh aren't gonna want to hear about next year when Eddy Curry comes off the books and all that....Esp. with these other two teams having the upper hand right now, I think these two guys are gonna wanna see some action from us..Just about every reporter out there is saying it's a done deal, that Lebron & Bosh are going to Chicago...What are we gonna do to change that? Maybe nothing..Maybe Donnie's already thrown in the towel and that why we're hearing all this stuff about JJ/Amar'e on Weds..Who knows? I just can believe it if the plan was to just offer 2 max contracts and do nothing else whatsoever to make the team look more attractive..I really hope we're working on something in the next couple of days leading up to July 1st...If we fail to do anything, I think Johnson/Amar'e may even turn us down -- then where the hell are we????

Earth to Donnie: MAKE EITHER THE OKAFOR/COLLISON OR TONY PARKER TRADE AND GIVE US A CHANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cp3 just spent almost all of last year with a broke everything. So you could say cp3 is damaged goods too.
Ill throw another Guy out there....baron Davis. If Tony Parker, cp3, and arenas can be in the mix...baron should be there too. Baron is a better passer than all of these guys....he'd be lethal in the pick and roll. Plus he's clutch and a leader.

True point made. But Arena hasn't played in a while and when he was playing he pulled the gun thing. But Arenas would give Curry a run for his money with amount of playing he did over the last two years. Paul was back by year end.

indeed... blatche still has some maturity issues to go on top of that. if we need high char guys, blatche may not be the best fit for mike.

If we need high character guys why are we talking about agent 0??

That would be nice.

I just ran the numbers.

If we give up the farm for CP3/Okafor -- Gallo AND Chandler, and hell, even Douglas -- we'd clear up enough room for JJ and resign Lee.

For example:

NOH trades: Chris Paul, Okafor (4 years/$52M remaining)
NY trades: Gallinari, Chandler, Douglas, Curry (expiring), and a $11M TPE (instant cap relief)

NOH would save almost $80M, be under the cap by next season, and have 3 young prospects.

NY committed salaries:
Chris Paul - $14.94M
Okafor - $11.5M
David Lee's cap hold - $10.5M
9 phantom cap hits - $4.05M

$40.99M, available cap space - $15M. If we can convince David Lee to take a starting salary of $9M, (or the cap is higher than expected and goes up to $58M) we'd even have room for a full max (ie. LeBron). Otherwise, we could sign JJ. Other options - if we can keep Gallo out of the deal, and convince JJ to a starting salary of $13M, we'd also have enough room.

Chris Paul
Joe Johnson
Gallinari
David Lee
Okafor

Just food for thought. I don't think a CP3 deal is completely out of the realm of possibility. It'd have a lot of similarities to the Marbury trade.

If we get Arenas it will set the franchise back 100 years. We would be the laughing stock of the NBA.

yeah i can see that too... just hearing stuff on the Fan this morning down here in DC about Arenas for Vince possibly being talked about... i'm sure DC fans would be ecstatic if that went down.
