Curry has sought a buyout, but he appears unwilling to accept anything less than the full amount of his $11.276M contract.

It is a bit of news though that he won't take a penny less than the full amount of his contract. I guess we'll trade him now or let him rot on the bench to trade him near the deadline

considering his financial woes, I'm shocked he wouldn't discount his total on the condition of it being an upfront payment

Its almost all on Eddy for his conditioning and injuries but Eddy averaged 37 minutes a year under D'Antoni. He did have a healthy period this year where he was benched. Where was the up the value philosophy that was applied to Jeffries prior to trading the #8 pick (that didn't play because Jeffries and bender were getting minutes)and two 1st rounders. During his brief period of health was Curry not playing because of his size, D' believes bigs clog the lane and slow down the offense, or because he did not meet the character requirement to play that the grizzled vets with expirings met this past year? If the Knicks somehow were able to dump Curry they could still have Hill and the two first round picks that they gave up or at least something from that combination along with the cap space.

how do you know curry had a healthy period this year? the guy hurt himself in practice repeatedly this year, i'm sorry but that is not a player that is either healthy or in nba game-shape.

Well receiving a buyout would mean he could get a NEW contract to make up for the difference if not more (so at least a vet minimum discount on the buyout) AND he could look for a situation where he could have playing time and showcase himself for a new LONGER contract.

The fact that he's not willing to do so might mean he wants a buyout after being traded for the above mentioned scenario or he will just sit out this season, "Rehab" and demand the full buyout possible wherever he lands.

So draft trade or trade deadline trade? No need to hurry things up if we don't get a good deal, we need to get the most value possible out of his ending contract.

It is seemingly news because he had up til the end of the month to do it. By doing it now, NY is allowed to trade him on draft day.

The fat fool wants to be moved so he can earn a new contract and, likely believes he won't get that opportunity in NY.

What he likely doesn't realize is that any team that does trade for him will be doing it for cap relief. Even IF (hellova IF) he comes into camp in tremendous shape, the odds are that he still wouldn't make much of an impact on the floor because of the lack of PT the past few years. It will take time for timing to improve along with his cardio (no substitute for actual play) and I don't see ANY team having enough confidence in him to wait.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

looks like the timing was b/c last sunday was the deadline for "opt in" day.

bosh had an option for this upcoming season but according to this:

This much we do know: On Sunday, a deadline passed that officially made Bosh a free agent, a paperwork acknowledgment that needed to be completed, a mere formality that was expected.

I guess you could read into this as a draft day trade. Other than that at what point is the earliest you can opt in? So maybe it's nothing depending on when that day is. He certainly didn't want to pull an Anthony Carter who left 4.5M on the table because his agent forgot to file the option paperwork!

Who has ever started a negotiation admitting they'd accept less than what they're entitled to by contract? Even Eddy's not that dumb. Hopefully it doesn't come to a buy out, not that I really care if we pay full salary or, what is more likely if it comes to this, full salarly minus $1 million or so.

I'd much rather believe the trade scenario -- so I'm another +1 in agreeing that the timing here is meaningful even if it's hardly a guarantee that anything happens.
