All the guys they're talking about moving into the first round for aren't going to go in the first round anyway.

(Vasquez, Brackins, Hobson)

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Disagree. I see all 3 going in the 20s. Especially Craig Brackins. Greivis Vasquez might slip but someone in the early 2nd will take him. But I really hope someone takes Darington Hobson. I'm sick of drafting SF's. Can we focus on Centers for once? Even Brian Zoubek would make me happy.

from chad ford:

It's time to end all of the Chris Paul speculation that grew like wildfire over the past few days. The Hornets did receive a few calls about Paul, but a very good source in New Orleans tells me they aren't trading him. Owner George Shinn may want to save cash, but he can't part with with his franchise cornerstone.

Chris Paul isnt being moved unless they receive a knockout package. Someone like Wall might have got it done this year.

Chad Ford's Mock 7.0 ...

38. New York Knicks

Armon Johnson | PG | Nevada
Knicks fans don't have a lot to cheer about, but if Johnson falls this far, they can get a little excited. The Knicks have been trying to move up in the draft to get this explosive, athletic guard. He lacks a great jump shot, but he really knows how to push the basketball.

39. New York Knicks (via Clippers)

Dominique Jones | SG | South Florida
It would be another steal for the Knicks if Jones were to slide this far. He's getting looks as high as 17 and is a terrific scorer who can really get to the rim. The Knicks are in major need of another backcourt scorer.

Bulls general manager Gar Forman talked Wednesday about having plenty of options on the table right now.

One rumor that does have some legs is Luol Deng to Orlando for forward Mickael Pietrus and center Marcin Gortat. It has been discussed, according to a source, but talks have not gotten serious and there is no proof the Bulls are inclined to make such a move.

This deal would save the Bulls about $22 million in future salaries, but it wouldn’t give them any more cap space to add a second free agent this summer. In fact, it would erase about $300,000 in cap space, which probably makes this move unlikely.

Like Deng, Gortat is signed through 2014. He’s due $28 million over the next four years after Orlando matched a generous offer sheet from Dallas a year ago. He averaged 3.6 points and 4.3 rebounds last season backing up Dwight Howard. Pietrus (8.7 points last season) is signed for two more years at about $15 million.

Orlando seemed to be disappointed in Vince Carter (big surprise) and is looking for another reliable scorer. The Bulls wouldn’t mind moving Deng this summer to add a second free agent, but they’re not likely to trade him for two reserves and no cap relief.

Seems Chicago is prepping for Lebron James. Gortat beefs up their front court with Miller gone. Pietrus adds a 3 point spot up shooter.

Noah/Gortat
Gibson
Lebron/James Johnson
Pietrus/Hinrich
Rose/Hinrich

Chicago is for REAL.

What the hell is up with the moves the Heat are making. It is scary to think that they could possibly sign Lebron, Wade and Bosh. Please say it aint so....

The Chicago Bulls have a deal in place that would move Kirk Hinrich and the 17th pick to the Washington Wizards, freeing up enough cap space to pursue two maximum-salary players on this summer's free-agent market, sources with knowledge of the Bulls' plans said Thursday.

It wasn't immediately clear what Washington would send to Chicago in the trade.

The deal can't be officially consummated until July 8, when the Wizards will have room under the salary cap to absorb Hinrich's $9 million contract without having to send back anything of similar value.

Since it's a good-faith deal for the time being, there remains a chance it could fall apart. But according to one source, the Sacramento Kings are prepared to make a similar deal with the Bulls in the Wizards' stead if that were to happen.

Either way, moving Hinrich and the pick would push Chicago's space under the cap from $20 million to more than $30 million. That puts the Bulls on equal footing with the Miami Heat in pursuing not just one but two members of a free-agent class that is expected to include LeBron James, Chris Bosh, Carlos Boozer, Amare Stoudemire and Joe Johnson.

Ric Bucher covers the NBA for ESPN The Magazine.

i really love ESPN's reporting here. somehow the heat's $27M is enough to get two max guys... when a max deal is $16.8M. no mention of the knicks who have $34M in cap room and actually have enough to acquire two max free agents.

FROM Adrian Wojnarowski, who is fairly reliable:

For everything the Heat's tried to simply give him away, there isn't one team yet willing to take Michael Beasley into cap space.

There are few teams with Cap Space right now. When July 8th rolls around do you think a team like the Clips or Memphis will pass on absorbing Beasley?

Teams with cap space are trying to get big guys. If Lebron goes to Chicago do you think Walsh will pass on Beasley for FREE? I doubt it.

I don't believe this trade. It makes no sense for Washington. It sounds like a typical ESPN made up rumor. Ernie Grunfeld is not that dumb to waste his cap space on Kirk freaking Hinrich. Why would you have John Wall, Gilbert Arenas and Hinrich? And even if this happens, Chicago is still not far enough for 2 MAX FA's. ESPN can't even do simply math! Argh!
