I've heard Kareem's name tossed around lately too. If Doc Rivers gets taken before we get him, I wouldn't mind giving Kareem a shot at it. I'd also give Mark Jackson a chance. Even John Starks. Someone with some fire and passion.

Yelling and screaming with passion and fire does not make for a qualified leader. You don't just give the keys to a multimillion dollar business becasue they got spunk. What is Starks doing right now? Pro, College, High School? He had some minor summer team, big deal. Mark Jackson perhaps one day.

Low on my list is Ewing, and I would pick him over any of the above if you must get one of those "glory name" starphucher coaches to sell seats.

The guy you want is not just a brand name like Doc Rivers, but one whom will install the right system for this group of players.

I can't really recommend one. That is the GM's job to make that correct match.

Riles quit on us once. I doubt he's sell his 7% of the Heat to coach the knicks.

Since when is fire and passion relegated to "yelling and screaming"?
Once again, you get the semantics twisted.

Needing fire and passion is a WHOLE LOT more than "yelling & screaming" when it comes to softee coaches like Done Chaney.

You don't just give the keys to a multimillion dollar business becasue they got spunk.
Actually, it's quite the contrary. The ones WITHOUT the "spunk", like your good buddy Scott LayDown, get the keys handed to them. He is the antithesis of "spunk". Now, this time around, maybe Dolan gave the keys to someone with spunk named Isiah Thomas.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

I got fire hardcore and I got passion like you have never seen before. I bet you that if I was coaching the knicks would have a better record.

Well go take that resume over to Isiah Thomas! You better win too, or I'll go to MSG booing you too!!

C'ore.

You pull up lame when you resort to "your boy layden" remarks.

I love when you feel the need to pull my comments apart. If they are worthy of your comeback, they carry substance.

Your subjective Isiah loving rants of late are not. Isiah the TV personality is feeding you, and you love every inch of it.

TV personality Fratello is the new dog. Boring hoop, and oh so deep playoff record. Look it up. Glad he finally got a job after 4 years of interviewing.

Playa, Van Gundy looks like John Wooden compared to Fratello.

I hope Thomas knows what he is doing.

Oh, Mr. "I got Isiahs Back", he has back peddled on many major statements. You loved him cause he corrected Dolan on wanting to make the playoffs and win a championship. Now he says the playoffs are not likely this year. Ok, I can deal with that from day one, but not now.

Trade for marbury ok, but it was supposed to get us to the playoffs THIS YEAR! It was not a trade of a LOTTERY PICK.

Hardcore, I hope the knicks make the playoffs this year and Isiah not just blowing smoke up our butts. Laydog may have been a fool, but not a public manipulater. And taking every inch of that you should not be happy. Don't misinterpret this as them wanting to lose. I will be sick if that picks turns into a Lottery pick. I want to see a late season run into the playoffs. Even if we get bounced in round one, at least the record for the rest of the season to get in would have been like .600 winnng percentage, and that would feel good going into the summer.

I want to believe in Thomas. I want him succeed. I did the same for Layden, Grunfeld, Checketts, Dave, Scotty sterling, Eddie Donovan, willis reed. Etc. THe problem is, the franchise is never committed to the long term health.

Thomas is 100 times better than Layden. But that might not mean Thomas is the best man for the job.

There is not consolation prize this year for not making the playoffs.

Question authority, Go Knicks

some of these names bouncing around are killing me. Fratello is a good defense and fundamentals guy. Who knows... Hubbie Browns been doing well in Memphis, so anything can happen. I just remember Fratellos 82 ppg Cle offense he ran where he made things so slow they were always going to be in the game because neither team broke 80 points.

I hope sees Steph, Hou, Penny, Frank and KVH and realizes an uptempo game best suits his personel.

I would have preferred to just have Malone as an interm coach and get Doc Rivers over the summer.

Zeke moved to fast on the last trade and moved to slow for the coaches removal. This guy as a gm is still a puppet to me.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

How did he move too fast? How long do you wait when you have a chance to add Penny and this guy to your team?

Marbury's resume of individual achievements are undisputable.

Lets hope he can continue that here, but with a few banners on the roof!

I love his game , but what has been his knock is just that individual performance, never past the 1st rd of playoffs as a leader of a team. I hope that all changes but who knows. He will get his stats , but will the knicks team do well and win?

only time will tell.. .but he's 26 and unlike KVH he continues to get better every year.

Also, remember JKidd gets too much credit for the NJ turnaround. Kidd had also NEVER led a team past round one and was also traded twice.

When Steph was in NJ Kmart was a rookie and was hurt most of that year. No Collins, no RJefferson, no Todd Mac, Bryon Scott was a rookie coach, Kittles was always hurt, KVH missed a lot of time. The Nets were 5-15 in the 20 games Todd Mac missed in Kidds first year...

The idea that Kidd did something Marbury couldnt is just silly. Everything fell into place for the Nets the year Kidd came over.

Kidd is a better team pg, but Marbury is a better one on one player. Also you can see after only a couple games as Steph gets comfy he DOESNT dominate the ball... he creates TONS of open shots for others.

Just patient. Steph has a good cast around him thats only going to get better... I dont know about titles but some trips to the finals and a 50 win team for the next (many) years isnt too high an expectation.

fishmike, you are all over the forums these days.

I agree. Look at Jordan in his younger years. Stats and individual performance. Once a good coach and the right players around him settled, the playoff wins came. Marb may be no Mike, but the situation could be similar.
