We are going to regret not Hiring taking Avery Johnson mark my words. Remember NJ new owner said his goal is to win a championship as soon as possible. Now you know why we hired Danphoney instead.

Regret?

How?

Stop this already. If Dantoni was black you and the usual suspects would be preaching to give us more time.

The act is old. You need new material.

I like Avery but I am not as impressed by him as some. However, D'Antoni has been so bad and has been so exposed that I agree that you could throw out a list of names of guys that the Knicks would have done much better with and Avery would definitely be on it. D'Antoni didn't just lose a ton of games so far in his tenure in NY, he has devalued assets and forced his gm to take care of guys he didn't want to coach or communicate with. There are a lot of people who post on here that D'Antoni was just babysitting until the 2010-2011 season. If that is the case how did he find it possible to f' up the future so much? All he had to do was hold down the fort, develop the draft picks. It has been well publicized that D'Antoni doesn't scout, game plan or hold long practices so I don't understand where the conflicts came about other than he didn't have a player leader to manage things. Things happened that just make no sense (i.e. Bender playing over Hill, and Douglas not getting minutes on 29 win team, everything about the Marbury situation etc.). The fact that the guy messing up presented as a smug prima donna that was too good for the guys he had on his team and wouldn't adjust to his roster made it more frustrating.

These are the things I have learned about D'Antoni since coming to NY. He is rigid and will not adjust to his players instead placing blame where coaching needs to be employed. He will not play guys that are not complete as players and need coaching and minutes to develop. This year that resulted in rookies sitting while marginal vets with expirings who knew the nba game got the minutes on a 29 win team. He will not play bigs because he beleives that they slow down the flow of his offense. He is not able to coach guys that do not display tremendous character, maturity and self motivation. He needs players that will behave as professionals on and off the court without this ever being communicated from the coach. If he is required to communicate expectations or act as an authority figure with a player on his team, that player is not right for him and it becomes the gm's responsibility to rid him of the guy that needs coaching, mentoring and a professional atmosphere. He does have a defensive philosophy. The philosophy is try to keep guys from driving the lane and shooting jump shots because there is not a center to defend the lane. He does make defensive adjustments but they are not as a result of scouting a particular team. Similar to his offensive, the defense doesn't change game to game, opponent to opponent. It is the same. In the four seasons that he has not had Steve Nash as his point guard he has lost about 70% +/- of the games he has coached.

With all these points you've made we'll see how MDA does next year. The truth will come out as what kind of coach he is. You act as if Nash is superman and no one else on the team needed coaching. Nash was an MVP under MDA. Where are his MVP awards before MDA? Nash won the most games and had his best seasons playing under MDA or his system under Gentry MDA's assistant.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

The problem has always laid in your court.

I think it began when you professed your undying love for Crawful and you never looked back.

Seems to me you like flashy players....the problem is these players are SHIT. Yet you'd throw yourself in front of a runaway bus to save their lives.

Why, I don't know. Only you know.

---

Settle things? Are you high? What do you want me to do...shove a gun in your face over the fact that you think Crawful and Hill are the best to ever play the game? Really? This is how you view our bickering over the Knicks? Has to be settled? I think you watch too many movies and too many ****ty rap videos if this is where you're going with this.

Gimme a break....just stop talking if you don't like what I have to say.

You can live in your fantasy world all you want. I won't stop you. But you bring it into a PUBLIC domain? Guess what, you're going to get replied to. Yet that's always been your problem. You want to speak out but you get all hissy when someone replies. Well, too bad. Man up and deal with it and stop acting like a 12 year old girl when someone disagrees with your assertions that Jamal Crawford is the best to ever play the game.

I know you think when you post that what you said is gold and the law (we all do) but it's not.

If you and Briggs co-GM'd a team it'd make last year's NETS look like bonafide title contenders.

You want to be done with me? Then YOU stfu and stop replying to me. Keep your ****ty ideas to yourself. Then there'd be no problem.

Again, the problem is in YOUR court.

Very good fire for New Jersey. I wanted Avery Johnson instead of Mike D'Antoni. The Little General has his flaws but his teams are disciplined and play D.

I don't remember TMS or anyone else ever stating anything even close to Crawford being the best ever to play the game.

According to Cosmic if Danphoney was black you would be saying give him more time.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Dude I want a defensive coach in place this is a NY Knick trademark, you're living off fumes of others who have no logic behind what they say.

By the way I never wanted Isiah!

LOL I don't give a damn what race or color a Coach is. I just want a strict, take no bull****, disciplinarian who preaches defense. Mike D'Antoni is honestly everything I dislike in a Coach. Smiling all the time, friendly with the media, opens the lockerroom to the public, no defense, making excuses, ect.

Not every strict, defensive oriented Coach is going to win. It takes more then coaching to win in this league. But history shows you have a much better chance winning with that type of personality and coaching.

i dont want to start another d'antoni war, because that's clearly what's going to happen, but haven't some posters provided statistics that show that mike d's phoenix teams were on par - or better - defensively with what the gentry team did this year?

ok, so if history dictates it so easily then please provide a list of the coaches. some of the coaches you won't be able to include: phil jackson, pat riley.

funny, i seem to remember having a coach here a few years ago who was just like this. i think his name was larry brown, he is the epitome of that description and everyone but a handful ran him out of town. i guess whatever way the winds blowing today...
