Has anyone discussed "over exposure" to this dude?

These sneakers I hope are not being marketed to kids but to those freaks who work 3 jobs to afford having closetfull of sneakers to define their identity.

Starbury called him and told him how to market his tennis shoes.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

If he hits NYC first -- he can claim he fell in love with NY offer and cancel the rest of the trips
(this allows him to avoid leading on the other teams and having to skate out of town without signing a NJ or CHI deal).

Imagine the stir if the Knicks called a press-conference the afternoon of Lebron's visit -- holy crap the city would ignite.

On the flip side -- he could just be using us like every other mo-fo free agent the last 10 years.

He'll visit the other cities. He's too much of an attention whore not to.

lol....

The impression I get is that Lebron is going to take his sweet time with this process. I don't see him doing a quick tour of the top 3 and then calling off the other cities. I think he and his people are going to milk it. I'm not going to judge him for doing that. I may not like it, but he's in the drivers seat and this is a once in a lifetime scenario.

I do wonder why go to NY 1st tho. There's not another city that is as big or impressive. I often find it funny how much smaller the other cities seem when you go there and actually check them out. There's just no comparison. Our financial opportunities outside of BB. The sheer size of the market and fanbase is unreal. Then you have the options of hand picking the rest of the team to fit around him. The cap situation is such that we will add another big piece or two next season as well. The legacy here isn't a player that may be impossible to match like Jordan. He won't have to share the spotlight with a guy like Wade who already has his own team and a ring. He'd be adored here like Derek Jeter or Joe Namath in his day. It's all set up.

This is why I believe it's either going to be King James and Chris Bosh or David Lee (ugh!), Joe Johnson (ugh!!) and some mediocre player like Mike Miller, Raymond Felton, Tyrus Thomas, Jermaine O'Neal.

Pretty sure we'd have to wait a week anyway. July 1st is when teams can talk with FA's, but I believe there's a week moratorium and players can't sign the contract till July 7th. They can make oral agreements, but not sure if those are binding until they get the player's signature.

On topic, the only bad thing about being first:

Is every other city is going to look to outdo us in the city-wide recruiting pitch. We better bring it on the first day -- get every celebrity, the mayor, all the fans out on July 1st. If we half-ass it, Chicago will look to trump us.

Maybe Walsh tells him: "we either have your signiture or your brains on this contract"......"Make him an offer he can't refuse!"

Via the "Godfather".

Knicks not being talked about at all. Amazing how fast the rumor meter swings.

My HOPE is knicks not being talked about is a good sign. I would hope lebron is doing all this posturing to midigate the damage from leaving Cleveland. Gotta show Cleveland, Chicago, Miami all kinds of love so they come watch him play.

Do you think that is really what is going to make Lebron choose a city? In all seriousness - sure those are nice touches, but it is going to be about how much he will get paid and what kind of talent the roster will have (as well as coaching, GM, and how much influence Lebron and his inner circle will have on the franchise).

Is it important to make him feel wanted? Yes - but it is more important to have a compelling offer. He already knows how much $$$ the Knicks can offer so its up to the franchise to put together the rest of the package.

Nash came to Suns after hearing MDA's vision for him. Dude said he would make him an MVP! Who'dah thunk?

Basically the MDA offense will need parts and they can offer not the current team but what the vision is with him as the center piece, perhaps bosh and gallo. Thats the core. Gallo's breakdown has some very interesting stats when isolated.

Im sure there are other combonations that they are cooking up.

But in chicago you have Derrick Rose, a nice player but lets be real, Thibs is a great coach but is he that much better than MIke brown was? Brown was deputy dog in SA who had a nice run but he is no offensive genious, and neither is THibs.

Core Deng-Lebron-Rose with Heinrich is nice if MDA is coaching that. Problem I see is Rose off the ball.

We can go over each scenario but Lebron to NY is not about which city is better, whose celeb row is better, or which arena is louder, its going to be about that vision. Say what you want about MDA, but the man is well thought of on Team USA. If Eddy, Nay Nate, Marbury, and Larry Hughes can't get with him and lebron listens to them, then Lebron is not the man we would like him to be.

You pull a Chris Paul/Tony Parker kind of thing BEFORE july 1st you go a long way on that one.

Whats Dlee look like in the big easy with TD? NO saves money and brings in a backup to collison and an allstar. They can sell it that Paul will break down soon. What ever.

Lebron, Paul, Bosh Gallo, and who ever!

Lebron arrives in NYC the night before his meeting with Knicks.

Wakes up in AM with Delonte West severed head in his bed.

Signs Knick contract later that day.

Its ridiculous to convince Lebron to sign.

Its obvious....you win a championship in nyc, you are the biggest sports figure in nyc history. Basketball in nyc is on top. The city is hungry for Knicks champion. Living legend status. Clyde and those guys are still eating off their rings.

The Knicks can't offer anything different from any other team besides Cleveland. Knicks do gave a clean roster Lebron can help fill with guys he likes.

Even Derek jeter basically said its retarded to sell anyone on nyc. Either he comes or he doesn't. Knicks can't afford to be held hostage either. Time is ticking.

Jeter played for one of the best owners in sports. Steinbrenner took care of his guys. Look at how many ex players he has helped or has on the pay roll. Aside from the fact that he is willing to spend money, Dolan is a horrible owner. The perks are the city and Donnie. The Knicks don't have a yankee-esque roster, a pool of young talent and assets, and there is a salary cap in the NBA. The Knicks are not a championship contender annually. I agree with Jeter if he is talking about the opportunity to play for the Yankees but not the Knicks in their current state.
