I'm really looking forward to it :)

Thanks for your advice, I'll book my plane tickets early tomorrow.

Makes sense, but the new Yankee Stadium is the absolute most amazing stadium I have ever seen, and that's quite a few. The sight lines are unbelievable. In fact, there are no walls between the food court and the box seats, so you can just stand there a bit and be right down on the action. Outstanding.

NY is an maazing city, I'll go back soon. If the Knicks get ery good in the next few years, I'll make an April trip to the Big Apple and go to the two new NY ballparks.

regarding Baltimore: it's not as bad as it used to be but it isn't the best place to get lost. If you have difficulty getting around, do yourself a favor, and go into a bar/pub/restaurant and ask them to call you a cab. Baltimore has a few very nice areas, but those areas aren't very big at all and are right next to some of the tougher parts. Philly is similar but the nicer areas are bigger and around the tourist destinations.

In Baltimore, get some crabs. Same holds true for Washington, but there are so many great foods in that city... and it obviously has international influence. I'd get shelled but crabcakes are a good choice. Also, their Little Italy is pretty friggin good too.

Nothing is more American than a hotdog so grab a couple chili dogs at Ben's Chili Bowl as that place is an institution. Ray's Hell Burger (VA, but off the Blue/Orange line one stop out from DC) is the best burger joint around in is quite famous now that Obama made it a point to eat and bee seen there. i don't know what you're budget it, but there's this restaurant in Georgetown called 1789... to restaurants change all the time in DC but that place is a staple and has a Revolutionary War feel to it... I usually take out-of-towners there. More expensive, but if you want one good meal I'd recommend that.

In Philly a cheesesteaks are famous and the two most famous places for that are Geno's and Pat's. I'd say Geno's is considered better by my friends, but Pat's isn't bad... Jim's Steaks is personally where I go to get a steak with Provolone. For all other UKers, Jim's is fairly easy to get to from 95. So, if you have time and decide to take the long way on 95, it's a quick stop and definitely worth it.

Thanks a lot SupremeC, I've noted all of that and definitely plan on checking them out. That's gonna be a lot of fun. Since my fiance couldn't take vacations this year, it was an opportunity for me to go all-in on a one-week baseball trip. I really want to get all the American experience I can get (I've been in the US 10 times or so, but I enjoy it a lot every time... watching Sportcenter when you wake up is something I love, how stupid that might sound... then I hit the streets, visit, take great pics, and enjoy some true American food...

I just booked my flight to DC (BWI) !!!

I'll leave on August 21st, and leave on the 30th. I'll go to 8 baseball games in 3 different stadiums (Baltimore, Philadelphia, Washington), and best of all, 4 of them will feature my Cardinals, the team I've been rooting for since I discovered baseball ten years ago... That is AWESOME !!! I'll now book my tickets and hotels, and I'll be ready to go. I'll use the official websites and stubhub to get good tix, especially for the Cardinals games.

I am very excited and very happy to go back to the US

Oh, and I got a great price for leaving one day later, so that extra Cardinals game at the end will be free of charge :D

I paid 609€ for a Paris-Washington round trip in August, I think that's pretty good. I'll try to find good hotels in Baltimore (two nights), Philly (2 nights), and Washington (5 nights). Any advice for hotel locations in those cities ?

you are dead on... I have been to a lot of cities, but baltimore is odd.. you can be in the wrong area with just one wrong turn, and it goes downhill fast.. you have to be careful, don't get lost, ask for directions... that is the truth.. we were visiting my brother and made one wrong turn and next thing you know, we were in and episode of the "wire"...hahaha

For game tickets, I'll use the official websites, because I think that tix will be cheaper there than on stubhub. Is that correct ? There are till tickets available for 7 of the 8 games I'll go to, the exception being one game in Philadelphia.

On the MLB websites, there are options to print your tickets at home or retrieve them at a will call window. Tthey might be nice to keep as souvenirs, but I will feel safer if I can print the tickets before leaving, so I'm not quite sure what to do.

For the sellout game in Philly, I'll use Stubhub, and have the ticket delivered to one of my friend in the US (they don't ship internationally).

Before doing so, I just wanted to ask you whether you had any advice on purchasing tickets, and if my solution seems like a good strategy to you. Since I'll go to multiple games at Citizens Park and Nationals Park; I'll try to get different seats around the diamond to have more pics from different angles.

I know this is off the off topic convo but i had to interject. You can't advise someone coming to philly for the first time to NOT go to pats - they're all very similiar (esp pats and genos) but when it comes down to real philly peoplp, they'll tell you that you've gotta go to pats first - they started it all. To me, Pats is like the old school Fenway Park/Wrigley Field with history and a more "real feel" where Geno's is like the new flashy, less substance commercialized ballpark.

Hey all, I'm making my baseball trip this weekend :)

If you guys have any other advice on what to do / what to see in Baltimore, Philly, or Washington, please let me know :)

Also, I'd like to know whether players sign autographs at the end of the game outside of those stadiums, and where I should go to get a chance to see them.

Cheers all :D

Quick question : how does the train system work between those cities. Can you get tickets at the station just like you would for the subway, or should you book your ticket online a few days before making the trip ? I guess it's not very complicated, but I thought I'd ask just in case !

Alright, I landed in Charlotte, now waiting for my connecting flight to Baltimore. I was thinking about going to the original ESPN Zone in Baltimore, but I just saw that they closed most locations except in Califorina. That sucks big time. The ESPN Zone was always a good way to get into the US sports mood. Any advice on a good place to go for dinner tonight, sports restaurant or not ? Cheers.
