One thing about Donnie, he hasn't invested on washed up Nba players since taking over the knicks. He's not going to put himself in such a grind.

If he's going to rid himself of Eddie Curry, i see atrade for Omeka Okafor from the hornets coming to the knicks instead. A much better defender than washed up Elton brand. Omeka also plays like a center.

Overall, i can see Walsh just keeping Curry by giving him another chance to play regularly with the knicks for the 2010- 2011 season

Here's the question, take Brand out of it, say he has a career ending injury five minutes after this...

Would you sign Evan Turner as a free agent to a Max salary for three years? Because that's pretty much what you'd end up spending to get him.

It would be a gut check but most GM's would do that, so I can't really believe that this deal is really floating out there.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Gallo? Are you insane? He's the key to our future. He's who will open the floor for Lebron and Co. The answer to your question is that they take Curry because he is an expiring $11m for them the year before Melo comes up. and they shed Brand. What more could they possibly ask for than that?

It's not floating out there. I just floated it as an idea for us to kick around. It's risky, but if we can retain Lee, it might be a solid move for a couple of years until Brand becomes an expiring. And if he can get approximately back to form, he would be an asset we could use. The risky part is Turner (as mentioned above) because we would essentially be signing him to a max deal for two years until we could trade Brand's expiring. Still, I bet Lebron would be enticed.

Also, Turner's stock could rise pre-draft. Wall is great and all, but a number of scouts have Turner rated higher. If that shifts, it's not out of the question that we land Wall. Now tell me that's not an (admittedly long-shot) possibility. How's this sound...

Lee
Gallo
LBJ
Turner (or Walker)
Douglas (or Wall)

We trade Chandler for a big who can bang, rebound and block shots. I think it has potential. But I only like the Wall move if we can't sign Lebron. If we land the King, I PREFER Turner.

BRIGGS normally I would agree, but the 76ers are looking to cut cost, and they have two young power forwards that are ready to break out. Speights has looked just as good as Brand and they have another PF, whose name escapes me, that is pretty solid. So in their minds, it might be a matter of we save several million dollars and may end up starting younger players who are just as good as Brand at this point in his career. So I don't think the move is that far-fetched. My only concern is that the 76ers might be able to do better than Curry. Taking on Brand's deal is huge, but the guy can still play a little and it usually takes guys 2 years to recover from the type of injury that he had, so there is still a chance that he returns to form.

No way Philly would do this. They might package Holiday or Williams with Brand since they'll have a new combo guard coming in, but there's no way they package the #2 pick.

I could even see them moving Iggy with Brand to rebuild around Turner, but not the #2 pick.

No way. I would consider a Curry/Chandler for Iggy/Dalembert though.

At the very least I would look into a straight Curry for Iggy swap if they are looking to dump.

Actually, I only mentioned it because Philly is indeed floating the idea of packaging Brand and the #2 pick. I agree that it's a ballsy move on their part, but that's why I brought it up.

i would consider this deal but not if we plan on signing Lee to be the C to play alongside Brand... that's a ridiculously small frontline.

my guess is that Philly would move the #2 and Brand for something lower in the draft, but not to some team like Knicks to clear just to clear Brand.

It wouldn't be just to clear Brand. They would be getting Eddy's expiring, which is a very valuable asset in its own right, particularly for a team in Philly's situation. They want to grab Melo if they can, so they need to position themselves. Unless some suitor comes along that wants Brand, I don't see how Eddy's deal wouldn't be considered a plum. Turner hasn't proven anything yet at this level, so it's a major risk for any team.

I laughed at that one.

So you're saying an expiring contract the size of Eddy's is not valuable to a team trying to clear cap space?
