Sweet reminds me of Lonnie Baxter.

Sweet should be a good pro, he needs time to play. Rookie Knicks get traded. He will be also.

No... Zach is 6'9 but isnt any taller than Elton Brand (listed at 6'8). Also Sweetney has a HUGE wingspan (I think its 7'3) making him much longer than he seems. Remember he blocked A LOT of shots in school.

Yeah, Sweets used to block more than 3 shots per game in college. He had great timing on his blocks.

I think Sweets will get a few minutes tonight. Especially now that Chaney coaching with a gun to his head...

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Although I'm not a big fan of Sweetney... VDes... may have it right... Randolph and Sweets have similar bodies and game. Randolph is bigger, but his game is based on post moves and footwork. If Sweetney (a legit 6'8) can get in better shape and keep working he may be a useful low-post. The Randolph comparison actually made me feel better.

Ok Sweetney did play tonight....but 3 mins with no passes to him and no plays run for him is not exactly what I had in mind. He did look a little sluggish though and hopefully he continues to work to get in shape.

Harrington at least showed himself tonight and played well. Hopefully this ups his value so he can be shopped for a younger, more athletic player.

exactly... Sweetney does need to lose a little weight but he's got a VERY wide body. I dont mean just fat either, he's extremely broad and thick, and he has the great wingspan making him deceptively taller.

My gut feeling is he just need a year like Frank did to adjust to the NBA game and the NBA life. Losing his father at the start of the season couldnt have helped.

The thing is he wasnt just a college player that pushed guys around because he was bigger, he was a guy that was HIGHLY skilled. In 3 games against Syracuse last year he averaged 25/12/5 blocks.

I dont know if he has star potential (Zach is there right now) but having a workh horse PF with some nice post skills could be a HUGE asset for this team.

Hate to re-hash, but now we have a new coach and here, and we'll finally get a 2nd opinion on Sweetney. If Wilkins wants to run a more balanced offense (post and perimeter), IMO, Sweetney will be involved.
It's time for Sweetney.
