Thats stupid. Why did Shaq go to LA to be in Kareems shadow--why does anyone go to LA for that matter?

Face it Chicago is way better destination because of the team they have in place.

I agree. That's nonsense. Michael Jordan retired many years ago.
Why does anyone go to play for the Yankees? Lots of shadows there. BOO!

Its different. The Lakers and the Yankees are not defined by one superstar. Shaq just was the NEXT in the line of great Laker centers. Going there enhanced his position. Center for the Lakers is like playing centerfield for the Yankees. There is an established tradition there.

In Chicago, everything is Michael and Michael is everything. He IS their tradition. So Lebron would be going there to be compared to Mike. He wouldn't be able to say... "Hey, i'm just the next great one in the line of great Chicago players" because Chicago only had the one guy, and LeBron will have to live up or down to that comparison the rest of his career.

NY doesn't have that baggage.

Agree.

And Jabbar did not begin his career with the Lakers, and had already won a title before going to LA. He was not the "Jordan" of those Lakers- Magic was. Jabbar was never the face of the Lakers.

Jordan was drafted by the Bulls and put the team on the map, and is arguably the best player to ever play the game.
James starts in a mighty big hole (Jordan's legacy) if he goes to the Bulls. Jordan's accomplishments would always hang over his head.

In New York he has a chance to be the Mark Messier of the franchise and break the 37 or so year drought the Knicks have lived through. Yeah, the Bulls have more pieces matched in their puzzle, but for James to bring a title to the Knicks would be much more meaningful than doing the same in Chicago, even if he was only bring us a single championship.

Don't put too much into the report of Chicago. I saw the TV spot and Broussard gave Chicago a slight edge over NY based on the personel. He didn't give a very assertive indication that he had any idea where Lebron was going.

I was just talking about this with someone last night - the Bulls are young, have some decent bigs, and they have D Rose. Lebron can take that team to the finals and he would have an awesome supporting cast.

If I were Lebron, I would be thinking about Chicago.

LeBron professes love for Chicago after Noah's criticism of Cleveland

April 21, 2010
CBSSports.com wire reports

INDEPENDENCE, Ohio -- LeBron James loves vacationing in Chicago. He just has no interest in doing it anytime soon.

After the Chicago Bulls' Joakim Noah sharply criticized the city of Cleveland, saying there is nothing to do and no one vacations there, James on Wednesday called Chicago one of the greatest places in America.

"It's an awesome city. Great restaurants, great shopping," said James, who spent three summers in Chicago while in high school working out at Michael Jordan's facility. "I have nothing bad [to say] about Chicago, and I'm not saying that because of what he said about Cleveland. I'm dead serious. We all love Chicago."

Without prompting, James then added that he has vacationed in Chicago a few times. As reporters laughed at the irony, James chuckled, but insisted he was serious.

"You all are making it a joke, tomorrow it's going to be a joke, but I'm being very serious," he said. "I love Chicago. I love Cleveland and love Akron, too."

And he loves New York and he loves Miami and he loves hanging out with billionaires. The man is full of love, y'all.

ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard made an early TV appearance on Wednesday, saying the Bulls are LeBron James' No. 1 option should he leave the Cavaliers.

Broussard is an Ohio native and very close to James and his inner circle.

I give the Bulls and Chicago 0% chance of landing Lebron.

It's Cleveland or NY -- that much is pretty clear.

Chicago is Cleveland lite -- they don't call it the 2nd city for nothing.

Regardless of the Bulls roster - I see no chance Lebron goes to the Bulls.

Well put. Not to mention all the other previously spelled out obvious advantages of e NY City market. Chicago shouldn't even e in the running. Broussard has a hard on for the Bulls and disdain for the Knicks.

It's crazy talk. Derrick Rose and LeBron don't mix. Each are primary ball handlers. Neither would be as good if they had to play off the ball half the time.

Magic never had to share the backcourt. Michael never had to defer to BJ Armstrong. Wade has never had a ball dominating point.,

Unlike Miami, unlike Chicago, we don't have a primary ball handler. LeBron fits here.

Yep, and that is why I don't think Lebron and Wade would end up pairing together. Not sure if they would both be equally effective. What you need here with Lebron is a Ray Allen type shooter, mix that with Gallo nad a posible Bosh, then you are in business.

not only do we not have a primary ball handler, we don't have a primary scorer, rebounder or defender!

seriously, is it a requirment that lebron dominate the ball to be effective? if you were him, wouldn't you want a guy like Rose to get you some easy shots?

but, I agree that nyc+ lebron + fa signing is probaby better than chicago + just lebron.

and if he serious about becoming a billionaire, nyc over hicago every time. nice city, but its just that, nice.

...And that's why everyone figures that if James comes to us, he is going to be doing some recruiting to gets some players he can work with over here.

I do think that Douglas and Gallinari are potentially the kind of complimentary players Lebron can live with, and will do much better with him on the team. Neither of them, or Chandler, for that matter, would cramp his style. Got to have a rugged player in the middle though (Chicago already has that guy in Noah). Would Bosh fill that need?

It really is scary, though, how few players we know for sure will be Knicks next year.

I don't find it scary that we have so much mystery about what the roster will be next yr. I find it exciting and refreshing. For so long we've been stuck going in circles and finally we can move in any direction we need.

They just have Rose, Noah is just a role player at best, if the knicks make some smart moves this summer we could be a better fit, the other poster made a good point, why would he want to play in MJ'S shadow?

Yup here in NY his play would be more appreciated since it's been so long since we've won a title. There's no statue outside the Garden of the last great player. More importantly the slate is clean. The sec he agrees to come here we become the favored destination for FA's.

Cavs fans will be bitter and angry over this playoff performance but here he'll find an inviting atmosphere and I think the Cavs fans will drive him toward us as they already are.
