i'm not trying to go islesfan on your thread, but the article is biased dude.

Of course it's biased! It's New York magazine! Are we supposed to also give Cleveland and Jersey kudos when LeBron James comes to visit in July? Geez.

that's what i just said.

No big name free agent is going to waste 2-3 years of his career playing in an empty areana.

that arena would be sold out every night if Lebron was there, let's be real about it... can't use that as an argument.

By who? That arena was empty even when New Jersey was in the Finals. That place is a total dump. Not even LeBron James can get fans to go to that hole.

it's not a total dump, i've been to that arena many times for concerts & sporting events, it's a decent venue... the only problem is the location & inaccessibility by PT... if Lebron were a Net their attendence would spike dramatically.

Who doesnt want Lebron on the Knicks? Come on now man. The article was cool but I never discount the competition especially when the competition's team has a big Under Construction sign on it from top to bottom. Are we so naive as to believe the Nets aren't going to use Jay-Z to communicate to Lebron? Team has no coach, a top 3 lottery pick, decent moveable players, cap space, and happens to be moving to Brooklyn.

I'm ambivalent about Lebron coming to NY.

Clearly, he is a great player and would immediately improve the direction of the team.

However, I do have two reasons against wanting him.

First, even if he comes, I still think we're missing parts and question if our win now at all costs strategy can get the supporting cast in place in the near term. And, that win now at all costs, even bad decisions mentality comes from Dolan. Missing out on Lebron might be the straw that breaks Dolan's sick ownership of the team, might be what gets him to wise up, step back, and rebuild the right way.

Second, I kinda think Lebron is an arrogant PoS, and would rather find my own star to call my own.

However, I am with TMS, and would be really, legitimately excited about getting Lebron.

& btw, i got some hope too, so don't think i'm trying to dissuade you from believing Lebron is coming here... actually it's more than hope, it's desperation at this point, cuz if we don't land Lebron this summer i'm gonna be pretty pissed & disappointed.

the stuff about MDA is the most interesting.

You guys are still argueing the Xs and Os when its got nothing to do with that. There are reason for him to come and not to come, logical or otherwise. At the end of the day he's coming because he wants to be HERE, or he's not because he doesnt want to.

Naive? Come on now ANUBIS. If you really think that LeBron will go to NJ you're nuts.

The Nets will never be the Knicks just like the Clippers will never be the Lakers - they play in the same building and you cannot tell it's the same building, because the Lakers fans fill the house and the Clippers games are empty and soulless.

There was a Nets game last year where 1,000 fans showed up. I don't care if the Knicks were playing on Staten Island or what - they'd never draw that few fans.

To think that the Nets and Knicks operate on a level playing field is just silly. The Knicks are the Knicks. The Nets are a sad little expansion franchise - even if they shared MSG like the Clippers do with the Lakers, the Nets would still be second class. That's just the way it is.

i don't buy that lebron is going to play in the swamp for the nets. i don't care if they eventually make it to brooklyn, they are still the nets.

i don't buy that lebron wants to go to wade's team and be perceived as riding wade's coattails to a championship in miami, another second tier franchise.

i don't buy that he's going to chicago to play in jordan's shadow. he could win 5 championships there and still be in jordan's shadow.

i think if he leaves, and that's a big IF, there's only one place to go. NY. for all the reasons we know - it's the only team that allows him to handpick his sidekick (no other team has two max slots), it's the only glamour franchise (boston/la/new york - that's it), it's the biggest media market in the world and if he wins one championship here, he will be a basketball legend. if he wins three? people will remember him like they remember larry bird and magic johnson and willis reed - basketball legends.

right now i think it's 50/50. but i think it's 50% stay in cleveland, 50% go to new york. that's it. we'll see. the cavs have ruined their flexibility and never shown an ability to get bron an actual all-star in their prime for him to play with. their capped out next season and they've been proven to be a one-man show in the playoffs. it's all on bron in cleveland. we'll see whether that's what he wants.

Like I said before the Nets played in an area that was unreachable without a car. The Nets will now be playing in Newark until they move to Brooklyn. The Newark Stadium is 2 blocks from the train station.

The Clippers average 16,000 plus attendance while the Lakers average 18,000+ now considering Sterling spends zero dollars I consider that pretty good. Now imagine if the Clippers were actually good. When the Clips were good they averaged 18,000+ in attendance. You should check you stats before you make baseless claims.

When the Nets move to Brooklyn they will sell out games.
