I do think that Okur, Boozer obviously have a different type of backcourt around them, but those 2 guys are kinda mirrors of Bosh, Lee, right?

you answered your own question

so we get to the heart of it. Lee would be OK if we had guards that could defend and didnt get into the lane and to the basket at all.

Bosh is not my first choice, I would MUCH prefer Amare first but signing either and putting them next to Lee is a win.

Briggs, you like Livingston but what about Mike Miller? He's 30, but he can handle the ball and run the offense like a PG, and do so from the SG position. That lets you start Douglas at PG, where he can 1) defend opposing PGs and 2) play off the ball on offense.

I think this type of move helps us improve on both ends. We need a playmaker and Miller really plays a PGs game. He can also shoot with anyone in the NBA. If you did that you could bring Chandler off the bench for 30+ minutes a game like Harrington did last year.

i prefer bosh over amar'e. amar'e will not look as good without nash setting him. and amar'e is MUCH more dependent on the pick and roll than bosh. if dlee is controlling the center of the paint with the pick and roll, bosh makes sense on the wing or in the post. if dlee is running the pick and roll, amar'e is essentially useless on offense.

Neither Lee or Bosh want to play Center.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

David Lee wants to stay in NYC.

The Nets need a PF and I doubt they get Amare or Bosh so Lee is the next best candidate. Boozer is older than Lee plus injury prone so I dont see him as a real target for them.

A huge number of guards in this draft--I think some under rated ones.

Id be estatic if we got Lee Bosh and Livingston--and maybe an Etan Thomas as a back up with our FA $$$$$$$$

I think a Lee Gallo Bosh frontline would be a top 3 frontcourt.

We'd be a pretty small team. Who'se gonna play Center? Gallo?

Signing two guys to near Max contracts so one of them can spend the Prime of their careers playing out of position.

your the 2nd person to say "signing Lee to a near max contract"

Who has said this on the board? Ive said 100 times we should offer 6 years $70mm. That starts at $9mm. Max is $17. If I owed you $170 and gave you $90 would that be near what I owed you?

after a 36-yr old camby got two years $25M, i think lee's first year salary request went up to a minimum of $12M. his agent, mark bartelstein or whoever, is supposedly looking for a biiiig score for dlee.

lee finished 18th in the all nba voting - he was an all-star, top 6 in the league in rebounds, one of like three 20ppg and 10rpg guys, got all defensive team votes (somehow?)...

dlee is going to get paid. probably $80M total value over 5-6yrs... if not more.

No. He got $8.5M and $9.25M, and I think some of that is in intensives. And he got that $ to play center.

i thought it was $21M with incentives that could take it to $25M?

Blazers extend Camby's deal

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Marcus Camby has signed a two-year contract extension with the Portland Trail Blazers.

According to official salary figures circulated by the league Tuesday after the deal was formally signed and obtained by ESPN.com, Camby's extension is a two-year deal worth $17.7 million in guaranteed salary. The extension will pay him $8,453,250 in 2010-11 and $9,256,500 in 2011-12.

The deal, though, also features unspecified incentives. Camby's agent Rick Kaplan told The Oregonian on Tuesday that the contract contains up to $5 million in potential incentive bonuses.

The 6-11, 235-pound center was acquired from the Los Angeles Clippers on Feb. 16 in exchange for Travis Outlaw and Steve Blake. He started 23 regular season games for the Trail Blazers, reinforcing a position depleted by injuries to Greg Oden and Joel Przybilla.

Portland went 17-6 with Camby in the lineup, and the 36-year-old grabbed 17 rebounds Sunday as the Trail Blazers beat Phoenix in Game 1 of their first-round playoff series.

In a statement, general manager Kevin Pritchard said Camby has been a "great fit for us."

Information from The Associated Press and ESPN.com's Marc Stein was used in this report.

okay, you were correct, martin.

that said, i think his agent will be looking for a big score for lee. maybe lee wants to stay so looks for a fair deal? we'll see, i guess.

The announced numbers do not include incentives. This is why they said guaranteed salary. With incentives it is close to 23 million according to the article you just posted.

Actually Kaplan, Camby's agent, told the Oregonian that the deal was for 21 guaranteed with 5 million in incentives. If you look at the wording they say "up to" 5 million in incentives. So I will assume the 21 million quoted by Camby's agent includes the incentives.

its the NBA. It doesnt matter what Camby makes or what the market is. What matters is who can pay you. Nobody is signing Lee before the bigger FAs are taken. That included the Nets who would much prefer Bosh next to Lopez than Lee, and they have the money to him. No big money guys are getting signed before Dirk/Lebron/Wade/Bosh/Amare/JJ are locked up. Then the Lees and Haywoods of the world will find their places. Its certainly feasable that someone is willing to overpay for Lee, but the Knicks have the first in. He wants to be a Knick, not just in the NY area. He's been very upfront about this. Look on the UK homepage. He said the same thing at a fund rasier like 2 days ago.

Then again someone may see a guy that was pick 30, has worked hard to improve in every area, is a top flight athlete, has a 55% career FG % and just went to his first of many all star games.

Walsh has a pretty long history of paying his own talent. Time will tell

Not every team with cap space has a chance to get Bosh, Lebron, or Wade. The Nets are a young team and I assume they rather pay David Lee who has his own fan base over the likes of Carlos Boozer.

Rod Thorn didnt want to pay Kenyon Martin because of his knee. I doubt he wants to pay a 28 yr old Amare.
