You also get the #10 pick which I'm saying we would use on Monroe who is also big and fast and at a position of need... and you have Troy Murphy who would get minutes in this system and would be an asset at the deadline...

So yeah... I guess that's not as good as the "trade Curry for Rubio" posts but I do what I can.

Thats a horrible trade,Gallo AND Lee for Troy and a pick? Why dont we trade the expiring of Currys for Troy and the pick?

I'd take Lee and sign and trade him with Gallo for Dampier and Beaubois and then flip Damp for troy Muphy and the Pacers #10 pick. Use the #10 on Greg Monroe, who last year became the perfect big for this system.

Now you've got:

Beaubois/Douglas - PG
Beaubois/Douglas - SG
Walker/Chandler - SF
Chandler/Murphy - PF
Monroe - C

That's a nice group of young, fast, athletic players who can execute 7SOL and if you get one of the Max guys to come in you're going somewhere.

dump Lee and Gallo for Troy Murphy. Good post.

Troy Murphy is the ticket baby. He's just waiting to break out and become a superstar.

Gallo, on the other hand, is a piece of garbage. He is the next Jason Kapono/Milos Vujanic/Mirsad Turckan/Maciej Lampe/Steve Novak/Victor Khryapa/Luke Jackson/Yaroslav Korolev/Zoran Planinic/Nikoloz Tskitishvili/Bostjan Nachbar/Jiri Welsch/Casey Jacobsen/JJ Reddick/Marco Belinelli/Marko Jaric/Dan Langhi/Pat Garrity/Matt Bullard/Vladimir Radmanovic.

Giving Lee 6 years and $66 Mil means that he's one of the top three if not top two guys that you're going to battle with for the next 6 years, especially given the impending CBA that will reduce player salaries making $11 mil per for Lee look even more ridiculous.

Lee's clearly not a center for a competitive team, correct? That means he has to play either Chandler's, Gallo's, Bosh's, Amare's, or 'Melo's position if we're going to be competitive, correct?

So let's say you do this. You have a center, and you have Lee making near Max money and you have Chandler and Gallo splitting minutes at what position? You've limited yourself to one of LeBron, Joe Johnson, Wade, or possibly Boozer. What's the best you can do there?

Who has ever said paying Lee near max money? Who?
I have said 6 years $70mm. That starts at $9mm next year. Thats not near max money and leaves you with a ton of cash to sign other players.

You want to build a winning team? Start with guys that have size, skill, high BB IQ, get better every year, rebound, make teammates better and score a high FG%.

Lee is an athletic guy. He's strong. He's got no physical limitations to speak of. He also gets better every year. Not just statistically, but skill wise. His jumpshot is simply money. He handles the ball. He makes difficult passes that lead to easy scores. 25 times last year Lee have over 5 assists in a game. He's a 55% shooter for his career. He added a 15-18 foot jumper this year and his FG%? 54.5%. Thats good for 9th in the league and only Amare scored more AND had a higher %.

If these guys grow on trees why arent there more of them? It cracks me up when you plug guys like Whiteside or Monroe into starting lineups. Lee would so thoroughly destroy those guys its not even funny.

I'm done amigo. If you cant see that a guy like this has value, and high value then I am obviously wasting keystrokes.

David Lee's agent will seek $13M - Carlos Boozer/Rudy Gay range. You're fooling yourself if you think he'll settle for $9M when a 37 year old Marcus Camby signed for $10M.

David Lee's agent will seek max money. He will then seek $14-$15mm. We will then look for sign and trade potentials in the $12-$14mm range which he will hope for use for leverage.

At the end of the day it will be up to Lee to decide if he wants to leave because $70mm isnt enough. Its not a low ball offer. That contract starts at $9 and ends at $15mm. Its comparable to what Boozer got when the Jazz signed him

Here's a key point in the debate about resigning Lee that I think gets lost... If the new CBA lowers player salaries as expected currently, then there's no way a player like Lee is worth the money that we're talking about. So a year from now you're sitting there with a player making $11 mil per who isn't worth it and can't take over games... I don't know folks...
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)
