If we have his rights maybe we get lucky the way the Hawks got lucky with Josh Smith (offered 5/55 (I forget by who..memphis??) and matched by the Hawks.) when he was seeking 75M).
If not then it's not even our concern. It's out of our hands.
Anyone know?
the deal is simple. We own Lee's bird rights and thats it. We can offer him a 6 year contract and 10.5% raises every year. Another team can offer him a 5 year contract at 8% raises. Its a significant advantage to the Knicks because Lee isnt Lebron and will be looking at this contract to secure him for life. The total amount more in guarenteed money we can offer is a big plus for us. Also he wants to be here.If the Brooklyn Nets want to offer him $14-$15mm a year good for Lee. He earned it, and he will be missed. Playing with John Wall and Brook Lopez will get him quite a few more all star appearances and Knick fans will wonder what went wrong.
Or he'll go there - become the 3rd option in a non-pick and roll offense while fighting for rebounds with Brook Lopez. Maybe his stats go to 16 and 9. He becomes a great 3rd option that is HIGHLY overpaid considering he plays NO D and can't get his own shot.
he cant get his own shot? How does a guy that scores at 55% not get his own shot? Please elaborate on this one, I REALLY want to hear. Was it all the easy shots Duhon created? The great ball movement?
You guys are funny.
