He has tried hard to put a good product on the floor. But is it his fault that the GMs that he brought in didn't try to rebuild the team in the right way. As a owner he has to put his trust in the GM and the GMs have failed him. Dolan has taken the Knicks payroll to over 100 million on a number of occasions. Has brought in hall of fame coaches to get this team turned around. Most of the circus was cause by Thomas. Since Isiah's Departure things have quickly come to normalcy. I for one am tired of blaming Dolan for the Knick's mess. When an owner has deep pockets and uses it to turn his team around how can you be disappointed in him. The only mistake that Dolan made was Isiah and even he tried hard to get the knicks turned around with no avail. Isn't Dolan doing everything his current GM is telling him, he is and that leads me to believe that he has the best interest of the Knicks at heart.
People keep bring up Sprewell and Camby you know what if you guys were owners and the two ass clowns did that to you. You would have had these two shipped out too. I'm a big fan of Sprewell but that guy just didn't get it towards the end he was hurting the Knicks more than helping them. He was pretty much done at that point anyways so I wasn't missing him that much. He play what a year after that and took him self out of the NBA with his "I can't feed my family", now that was a guy just playing for the paycheck not the love of the game. As for Camby he was always hurt and they were getting back Dice who by the way during preseason was doing very well who would have thought he would shatter his knee cap. I remember people being excited about that team which at the time had H2O and Spree.
you are being far too generous. he hired laymass and despite both being clowns, left them around too long. for the bold part, this hasnt occurred yet. he gets heat cuz the team has been awful, and he has had a number of bad hires. if walsh does well and the team turns around, its in his best interests to be invisible. sometimes the best owners are those unseen.
george s was hated... he spent too. he made poor hires and player moves. when he got banned, everyone at the stadium cheered. it was the best thing to happen to him and the team. once the yanks started winning, and george came back, folks didnt mind the guy -- winning cured some of his detractors.
