Sign David Lee to a long-term max contract and how do the Knicks fill in the other gaps? Do the Knicks start the waiting process all over again for Durant, CP3, Roy, etc. It just seems that Walsh has put the Knicks on a path for Starphucking nothing else. So I can't really understand how his plan is anything other than about getting LBJ.
I understand the fear and doubt regarding this plan, but we don't know how DW is gonna start the ball rolling. He could already have a trade in mind or he may quickly move to resign Lee and go after easier targets like Tyrus, Gay, Johnson... He may do some of this smaller stuff and hold on to cap for Trade Deadline Deal including Curry and also look towards 2011 to go after other FA's...
My point is there are so many possible scenarios that it's just a Panic Response to concentrate on the worst possible outcome as if it's destined to go down like that. I'm telling you that the chance of doing something detrimental to the team is small. WHY? Cuz there's no reason to do that when you have a trade deadline and another good FA crop the following summer. I repeat there's no chance DW is gonna ruin the team with panic moves when he knows he can continue to improve the team gradually.
