Allanfan, don'tget it twisted ! Vandummy ran his course people figured him out . Where ever he coached NY & Houston he was limited in offensive strategy just like Danphoney is defensively.
Vandummy piggy backed Pat Riley's style and adopted Riley's players , Danphoney used rec ball tempo to entertain andscore points (ABA) , but never understood that defensive win championships in the NBA.
playa - i thought van gundy was a pretty good coach and why not take after his mentor riley? those were the last teams that played with heart. question is - who would you like to see as coach and why?
I not discrediting his love of the game and what he continued with the knicks. I 'll ask you why isn't he been successful anymore after he left Riley's hand picked crew.
He was the one who preferred oakley over camby and didn't like Sprewell . Grunfeld's decision's helped save his butt. Then our screwy management had to choose between Grunfeld (ex-knick who bled orange and blue) and Vandummy. Don't get me started. LOL
I would have liked no -nonsense Avery Johnson as our head coach who won a chip as a player and who took dallas to the finals and should have won, if refs didn't get into the head of dallas playes with phantom calls for wade at crucial times in the game and series.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.
