Are you including the 10 million dollar caphold for Lee, and the fact that Gay might command more money than that? Watson too. Lee too for that matter.

Gay at $9M is not happening. The dude is gonna get $12.5 which is his max and his team will match the offer.

Brendan Haywood > Marcus "36 years old" Camby. And $7M for a double/double Center on a title contender who plays D is insulting.

Memphis could pay Gay the 12.5 Mil, but that would be a major commitment to him and I wonder if they really want to pay him that much, considering they for the most part have felt unsure about him until this year.

Anyway, Gay is way down the list of guys we'll be looking at, so I hope we don't have to go in that direction, which would mean we failed on other options.

Billy Hunter and the Player's Association are Getting Pissed

A source close to several players said Friday's estimate of a $56.1 million cap "will compel" the union to take a closer examination at a collusion case.

The union will look to determine whether any players suffered financial harm last summer from the low cap projection, which was based on an expected 2.5 to 5 percent decline in basketball-related income.

If that avenue is pursued, it would have a major impact on the ongoing talks regarding a new collective bargaining agreement to replace the one set to expire in June 2011.

"A memo of this nature can have a chilling effect on the market for free agent and rookie signings," union director Billy Hunter said last July. "If it later turns out that the league did not have a good-faith basis for making these projections, the NBPA will pursue all available legal remedies, including a treble damages claim for collusion."

Hunter was not immediately available for comment Friday

Stern May want New York to make a big splash but he wants Lebron to stay make no mistake about it.

this is great news for the players and their agents and opens up even more options for guys like D Lee and Boozer to sign lucrative contracts. all those who think Lee's giving us a big hometown discount to stay in NY need to consider these factors.

If he goes, he goes. There are other ways to get his 20/10. Hopefully, he will at least enable us to S&T his arse if he prices himself out of our reach. THat way, we might end up with a solid player, like CP3, or maybe even Bosh. Don't think "Irk" has signed any extension yet.

Reportedly Miami now will have space for another max AND 7-10 million to sign another guy.
