i agree... for someone like OK4 who fills our biggest need & could be slotted directly into the starting rotation i would do it... a guy like Gordon w/his contract to be a 6th man off the bench is IMO not worth the investment.

From the games I seen. He is just on the court for a lot of his minutes. He seems too content with just showing up and going through the motions. I mean it could be that they were not in it for good amount of the season but the guy is coming from an organization that hasn't been in it either so that is a horrible excuse for him. He just seems to be going down that path of the type of player you want your organization to steer clear of.

fair enough, i definitely don't want to bring in any more slackers, we've seen enough of those to last a lifetime... we definitely need to address the shotblocking problem tho... i don't wanna see any more wide open lanes to our basket again next year w/o an intimidator patrolling the paint.

They are going to get rid of one of Rip or BG. I don't know what he market is but both players are coming off sub par years. An ending contract + a high 2 seems to be fair compensation[considering the cash we would be taking on]

Okafor had a fantastic game at the UK gathering... he and Lee battled to a standstill.
If I could get OK4 for Curry to pair with Lee, I think at least on (historical) paper, we'll be in better shape, having gotten a physical banger/shot blocker to pair with the the always arms-down David Lee.

But technically, we're mostly focusing around what we could potentially get for Curry. If we wait another year and let Curry have a career year (it's a contract year, remember!), we'll have the cap room to sign another impact player.

I'm not a big fan of Ben Gordon - he's killed us in the past, but while we could certainly use his ability to take over a game offensively... he's an oddly sized player who apparently has lost any and all semblance of his PG skills that he displayed in college (some said he was the next Baron Davis...). He's not a playmaker at all.

No. Eddy Curry's expiring contract will be worth more than Eric Gordon alone. That and the money left over from our inability to sign a single max fa this summer will make NY a major player in 2011 & 2012.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

no... Eddie will have good value next Feb. There is always a team looking to dump salary. Always.

This trade makes perfect sense for Detroit. Ben Gordon is a useful player, but he is definitely overpaid. I think Dumars would jump at the opportunity to dump Gordon's salary. But, I would rather keep Eddy's contract and let it expire. Also, I believe that Toney Douglas can provide production that's similar to Gordon at a lower price.

Gordon off the bench for us with D'Antoni as coach would be very nice. Issue is do we want to pay a guy off the bench that kind of money. I say no.

Answer simply: NOPE
I love Ben and his play from his BULLs days
however I dont think a scorer/non defender is our issue.
Gallo is our shooter. We can get another real SG in a draft or trade.
I rather use Curry $cap to come off books and if he were dealt I rather
use his big be-hind to get some size role player whom can help NY.

We need a defender SG.
I dont want to give up #37 & if I did I rather pursue something else than Ben Gordon
He can win a few games until some better team slows his scoring & Knicks wont get a
thing from Ben if he cant score.

You said it best
Ben Gordon is underachiever.
Trade of pick + Curry (underachiever) for Ben does nothing for Knicks.

I rather a 2 way guard, FA guard with versatile skills OR a guard from college whom can defend almost like SF/SG Sean Elliot used
to do for Spurs Or Pietrus does for Orlando. Scorers are not Knicks issue. We need a stud or 2 and role players going along with
Gallo and Wes. Lets also hope David Lee dont walk for nothing -> $

if all you're looking for is a 6th man off the bench who can score 19ppg & shoot a low %, i would rather re-sign Al Harrington for a short term lower money deal than to trade for Ben Gordon & take on his contract.
