this has been an ongoing practice in sports for the longest...but are you asking me to feel sympathy for a perfectly healthy athlete to just sit out a game on the road for no other reason that to not get hurt? it wasn't even a back to back. he couldn't suit up and play 20-25 mins especially if the outcome didn't mean anything to them? it's not like nba players are so spent that they have to go back to the hotel and sleep. half of them are out partying after the game.
Now you're trying to pigeon hole which games and price of a ticket matter. Money is money period. If the Yankees play a 3gm series at Wringley Cross League rivalry in September and I buy a ticket only for 1 of the 3gms games and Jeter sits out the game I purchased the ticket for...... are you saying because it's baseball and I didn't buy a ticket for the other 2 games he played in because it was a consecutive day series it's my loss because of the number of chances I got to see him play? How much does the average ticket cost at the United Center vs Wrigley?
I'll break this down precisely......
Tickets at Wrigley Field for non-premium sections average $52.56 this season(it's higher if you factor in the premium seating)
Tickets at United Center for average ticket price arena wide $64.84 this season
$12 dollars is a difference but it's mainly skewed by the floor seat pricing and overall seating capacity. But you can pack more fans into a baseball stadium than a basketball arena. Considering the ratio of the average paying fan in attendance you're going to have more pissed off fans in a baseball stadium not being able to see the feature players if they sit out than in a basketball arena.
For the record The Cavs played @ Chicago April 8th yesterday...... and they also played them a few weeks before March 19th @ Chicago. Lebron played in the March 19th game. So whoever the fans were that bought tickets to the game on April 8th but didn't buy tickets on March 19th, well tough cookies.<-----You see what I did there
Baseball may not market players per team capita like the NBA but they do market certain players in their league like the NBA this is a fact
