Very profound.

Should be self-evident, no?

Past Is Prologue

Panos - it is "past" time that the whole Jordan Hill trade thing should be considered a part of the Knicks past. I got over Bernard King in a Wizards uni, Lonnie Shelton in a Sonics uni and Walt Frazier as a Cav, almost. I may also miss Ernie Grunfeld, but that "past" was just mentioned in passing because I had the opportunity to meet him in person in the past, which was kinda perfect when one considers the chain of events that led to the introduction in the first place. But that's all in the past.

Hindsight is perfect. 20/20. Anyone can look back with regret and covet some dude that no longer wears the orange and blue. Speaking of 20/20, Zach Randolph is just about as good at 20/10... points and rebounds, and Jamal is iin the playoffs. I'm happy for them both because I'm past the point of kvetching about things I cannot control.

Looking forward without the chains of the past is the true path to enlightenment. ergo, Bill Walker has mad skillz.

Did I mention that I missed Marcus Camby?

Earl, I'm not a huge JHill fan, so I'm only playing devil's advocate here.
Discussing JHill is not a matter of the past, or something "behind us" as long as those that
made the decision to trade him (or draft him in the first place) are still the *current* management,
and for your sake, those in charge for at least the foreseeable future.
Discussing JHill can be done in the context of evaluating our current and future state,
as what decisions we can expect out of our brass.

Panos - Discussing Jordan Hill is the same as discussing Ron Artest, Channing Frye or Trevor Ariza. I'm over it. The endless gnashing of teeth and self-inflicted headache of coveting somebody else's property is an exercise for another thread.

This thread was not created to go retro, other than labeling Bill Walker as the most noble expression of Old School basketball values. His Old School jumper, toughness and hops were noted as compatible with the "Old School" values of David Lee... hard work, unselfishness and the ability to hit the open man.

Looking ahead, I prefer NOT to cry over the guys who ain't here. I'm suggesting addition by addition, in the present, by recognizing under-appreciated assets. Bill Walker, like The Mayor three years ago, is a young and valuable asset. Nice catch Donnie Walsh.

I miss Matt Barnes.

He's Shandon Anderson. That’s not a bad thing (unless its costing you $7mm). I would pick up his option. You can trade him if you need to dump salary, but I doubt the $1mm is going make a difference.

Shandon Anderson? I don't see any comparison at all...

Shandon Anderson is nothing like Bill Walker. That bum couldn't shoot and isn't as athletic.

All I know was when I heard we were trading Nate to Boston I said I hope we get Bill Walker. He was undervalued at draft time bc of all of his injuries, but I think people knew he had tools.

I dont see this at all. he's definitely a cut above shandon. He's a few cuts above that ADD fool. Damn, you almost got me mad using his name.

But I agree that we cant get excited about him, yet.

Sky Walker is already taken and a bit dated. Mister Bill belonged to Cartwright and we all know that we had to let him go to Chicago for Oak. Walker is unique so his naming ceremony may take some time.

Bill Walker's game is somewhat of a throwback to an era where men were men and called their own fouls. The era of "no autopsy, no foul". The era of a 6'6 cat jumping over an unsuspecting defender for a vicious dunk in heavy traffic and rocking the basket supports with so much force that the high school kid sitting on it with the push broom falls over. Three point range in a muscular 225 pound package?

Bill Walker is Old School.

Call him the Moon Man because he is so smooth like a moon walker so call him the Moon Man or Moon walker.

I got to see him when games really matter and not this pre-summer league stuff. I can't get caught up in numbers at this point of season when this team is so out of it. Mardy Collins wrecked it for me.

fish.mike - did you say Shandon Anderson?

That may be the absolute worst player comparison in the recorded history of NBA basketball.

Can you cite the criteria you base that on?

Shandon Anderson?

did you ever see shandon anderson in utah? the comparison seems pretty accurate to me. anderson was a good player in the NBA until layden grossly overpaid him and he became a cap killer. bill walker for cheap is good. bill walker for $6M is no good.

crzymdups - forget the salary comparisons. I want to know what skills sets the two have in common that would cause such a flagrant foul of remotely thinking of the two as a matching pair.

Shandon Anderson?

Then again, if Earl Barron keeps snatching double digit rebounds, he could be the next Dennis Rodman

Walker needs to work on the fouls and to attack more on the offensive game. I don't think even he realizes how good he could be.

For those that don't think culture has an effect on the players on your roster, take a look at Giddens and Walker. Both play hard. Both move the ball. Both play within the flow of the offense. Both know how to move the ball. Neither believes in giving up layups. The celtic vets really did a number on these guys. Now think of how guys like Marbury and Curry and Jame and Francis etc influenced our young guys. Is it surprising that Nate is not playing in Boston because he can't grasp the defense and does not move the ball on the offensive end.

Culture first, growth later. Nine years of Bip's preaching and now the evidence is finally in our faces.

I just hope that people will like me

If Bill Walker totally commits to being the absolute best he can be ... he could be a high-ceiling hybrid of Jason Richardson, Corey Magette and JR Rider without the peanut brain, of course.

If he does not take advantage of every second to make the best use of his time he will be out of the league on two years.

The Answer Man Never Leaves You In The Dark

Q. JesseDark - Does Bill Walker make Da Mayor trade bait, especially if we get a wing player via free agency?

A. Only if you are willing to accept Bill Walker playing with less leg support these days as a sign his knees are forever healed. His defensive footwork needs work. The Mayor would be having a blast with this new crew sans Harrington.

With that said, Donnie would be obligated to listen to any offer for a starting lead guard. No one is giving away any quality dudes over 6'10.
